Because the angle of elevation is so small it's not going to make a huge difference.
If whatcalculated for how high he should be aiming is correct then the angle of elevation would be 4.46 degrees [inverse tan(78/1000)]. From this we can calculate the initial horizontal velocity as 972 ft/sec [975 cos (4.46)]
