Re: Gun Bill Saturday - May 4th
I dont intended to be argumentative here, just inquisitive.baseballguy2001 wrote: A soccer mom calls 911 because she sees a male citizen wearing a gun in a holster when he bends over to tie his shoe in the local Wal-Mart. The Police show up with their Glocks at low ready and ask said citizen if he's armed. Yes, he says, and I have a CHL. They disarm him (for their personal safety, they felt threatened!) and take him downtown for an intentional exposure charge. After about 12 hours, they tell the citizen is was a misunderstanding, and he's free to go. The weapon has to stay here for 30 days. Still think SB299 is a big advance?
If I may.... can you post a cite or link to an actual case this of anything like it has actually happened?
It's brought up often... used as a reason to support open carry... and yet, I've never met a person so charged... never met a LEO who has arrested or detained a person so accused.. Never seen a court case report of a person charged for an event like depicted above.
If someone has had a MWG call made on them, been detained and arrested, then charged or not and had his gun confiscated for 30 days.. i would love to speak with them, or read the first hand account, read the court report, arrest report... As all things are possible, i'm sure this has happened , someplace, at some time... But it would seem to be a rare event at best.
Thanks
