You would need the actual charge and convection, relationship between the brothers to know that answer..

What, specifically was he convicted of?

My understand is, normally a "Brother" would not be cause for charges controled by
misdemeanor crime of domestic violence.

physical force, or the threatened use of a deadly
weapon, committed by a current or former
spouse, parent, or guardian of the victim, by a
person with whom the victim shares a child in
common, by a person who is cohabiting with
or has cohabited with the victim as a spouse,
parent, or guardian, or by a person similarly
situated to a spouse, parent, or guardian of the
victim.”"

If the brother was not a guardian I don't think it counts.... but of course IANAL.

I played one in the US army having to navigate if soldiers of mine were restricted from firearms use under The Lautenberg Amendment.
