Historically the Second Amendment was not the purview of a specific party. None of the Bill of Rights were. To reduce it to a party specific concept makes it vulnerable.

Texas Democrats of past decades were/are nothing like the Democratic party today. I'd even go as far as saying Texas Democrats were more aligned with what people consider conservative today but in most cases more reasonable.

Think about this. 100 people want to go through a gate, but 1 holds the key to the lock and won't unlock it, those 100 can't go through. You have to overcome that 1. It seems like we have the wrong people holding keys keeping the majority from progressing.

I agree. We can make a difference. With his inaction, he chose to lose my vote. It sounds like I'm not alone.

If he thinks he picked up some Brady or Bloomberg voters by throwing us under the bus, I hope it was worth it to him.

Is this a serious comment? Do you even understand what power the Governor has or does not have and what he has to make decisions like that? He does not have a magic wand and he's not going to waste tax payer money or time and resources the legislative process requires to please a few uninformed Texan's whether they're voters or not. If it had or has a chance he would be on it.

For a minute I thought I'd accidentally signed on to Kids for Guns or Open Carry or TGT.

For those of you that don't think anything has gotten done, take off your single issue glasses and look at everything that has passed, much of which has been signed. It's like the kid that wants am Indy race car for Christmas and when he only gets a go-cart he complains and cries.

And those bashing Perry because he didn't push the other issues that didn't make it, do you really think if he thought those issues could be pushed though without jeopardizing other much bigger (in the real world where things like State budget, education etc. live, not just in our gun rights world) or that there was time and a chance of success that made sense that he wouldn't have done what he could to get them dealt with? You and I have no idea what's going on within the process and if he knows there's too much opposition or strategic opposition that is a road block, he's not going to waste the time and resources on a futile effort. His personal support of all these issues (which he's made public) doesn't get them done. He doesn't get a vote.

I'm still holding out that we're not seeing the end of this session, for what little hope that may be. We still may have to wait until 2015. It is what it is. In the mean time, become involved to help make changes in preparation.

Keep in mind that's about .02% of the state. If every single CHL showed up at the polls, it would be a blip at best. We just need to keep on supporting those that know what they're doing when they go to Austin, or do it ourselves.

Yes, that's the same story that first broke, I think yesterday, and now all the media is finally getting around to catching up. And it's being posted all over the forums.

What's worse about Simon, they replaced all the signs last year or so, with current, proper ones. And they're about 4x the size they need to be and still posted off to the side in most cases.

If you're aware, it's not a gray or grey area, you've acknowledged being given effective notice.

I'm guessing you may be talking about Simon property malls, Grapevine Mills and Katy Mills for 2 of them. Stores aren't posted but mall entrances are. I don't mind going in to those stores as they control their space, but not the mall. Although why anyone but weekend tourists want to shop in their properties is a mystery to me. :)

I think it's a lot, like a whole lot, of many issues.

Locally a group is calling for parents to hammer the Governor with letters and calls to sign a bill that's already on his desk to be signed and there's no indication he was ever not going to sign it.

You get bored affluent parents involved, and they think everything is about what they want so they disregard logic and screw everything up. :)

I would hate to be any law maker right now, especially the Governor.
