Re: Cuffed and Stuffed

I take exception to that statement. I came from Kali and I offered to donate to the legal defense fund..Don't get me wrong I agree with the sentiment behind the statement but we are not ALL like that... :fire All blanket statements are wrong. I'm glad you got your card and firearm back handog. If y...

IIRC Red Robin has free fry refills, a kids eat free day, and and I've never seen one with 30.06 signs posted.

Re: Found a way to check if a place is a 51% Location!

Has anyone checked on the Paramount Theater? They have a 51% sign behind the bar, but as much as tickets cost, I can't see any way that they make more than 1/2 of their money from alcohol. Seems the TABC makes it easy to figure out alcohol + food as other revenue, but not ticket sales, bowling or o...

Re: Whats the name of your Lawyer?

I've seen posts suggesting that "If you carry a gun (CHL) then you need a lawyer, or at least one's number in your wallet or phone". For those who haven't needed a criminal defense lawyer but carry a number in their wallet/phone... did you actually interview / meet an attorney (without alr...

Re: Cuffed and Stuffed

I would make sure you can speed dial your attorney on your cell phone just in case. Not to crack wise, but once detained / arrested would you even have access to your cell phone? I don't know how it actually works off of the moving picture box / silver screen, but I would think that should you be a...

Re: Prohibited? LBJ library, Memorial Museum, UT, school events?

Thank you for your helpful reply. Since I was taking our visitors to both museums I went ahead and disarmed in the car. Thanks for pointing out the information about the TNSC, I was probably just too tired after trying to search the LBJ museum to see correctly. I still have no idea about the LBJ pre...

Re: Found a way to check if a place is a 51% Location!

Great find. Thanks for the links. And also for making the title obvious when searching. :-) I'm meeting some friends next week at a restaurant & bar, and am trying to determine if they are a 51%+ permit or not. The search link shows that they have a MB (Mixed Beverage) permit, but the only subor...

Re: Purchasing a Gun with a CHL

I think I would have responded, "Gee, sorry for bothering you. Please return my credentials, and I'll be out of your hair." Leaving didn't even cross my mind. This was fairly close to a recent presidential election and I was just happy to find a pistol I'd been looking high and low locall...

Re: Purchasing a Gun with a CHL

Depends on the store. Some strange store rules and interpretations out there for sure. I handed a salesman at Cabelas * BOTH * my TXDL & CHL and he became quite annoyed and huffed that once I handed him my TXDL (even with my CHL) that he was required to do the phone-in check. I don't recall if ...

Another request for the Austin area or San Antonio. Thanks.

I'd love to be able to offer a space, but even a dozen would be cramped in my living room.

As many people don't list where they are from in their profile next to the avatar (...) Great point. And thanks for your recommendation. Does anyone have any experience with Bristol Myers? While I have no experience with him, I do appreciate his page on the complexity of weapons charges. Please for...

Re: Whats the name of your Lawyer?

I know of only three lawyers (in Texas) that are absolutely understanding (and knowledgable) about the issue, and they are on speed-dial... :coolgleamA: There have been over a dozen posts in this thread, some good jokes (I like Car Talk too), but not a single lawyer's name mentioned. Does anyone mi...

Re: Ruger's New Compact Pistol

hillcountry, thanks for the comments. In fact, while we were talking with "Bob", the salesman, I spotted an XD9sc on the shelf and she did hold and dryfire it. She really liked it. Thanks, and I hope I wasn't too "evengelical". I tend to ramble anyway (my wife calls it something...

Re: sherman chl incident

While I can't speak to it personally, I've read posts about and seen Ruger's notices about drop-fire issues with their SR9 and LCP lines. And personally I had a Ruger Blackhawk that would fire if you tapped the hammer with any force at all over a loaded chamber. To give Ruger full credit though, the...

Re: Ruger's New Compact Pistol

While there, we also looked at and dry fired the XD9. While the grip was a bit wider than the SR9, the ergonomics of the grip fit her hand much better than the Ruger or the Glock and the trigger was really very nice. She is now leaning toward the Springfield Armory XD9. I wholeheartedly agree about...
