Re: Ugh... new cellphone choices....

Not too many portraits? (just an occasional picture?) Not too much texting? (just a little texting?) I am using a 2003 vintage Motorola V3 RAZR. There are several on Craigslist for about $20 (and up) Very happy with it. OH! Must stay with AT&T. Umm... I am not sure if AT&T uses SIM cards. Bu...

Re: dogs, bicycles, rabid skunks Halt spray

I think somebody should mention wasp spray. It shoots a stream instead of a fog. I have no first hand experience, but I have a few dead wasps that attest to effectiveness. <opinion> it should be easier to dispense a stream than a fog </opinion> <fact>I stay out of California.</fact> Hoot

Re: Books

Okay, anyone interested in doing a book exchange? That is an excellent commendable suggestion. And it is one which has been suggested and accomplished some time back. http://www.paperbackswap.com . I have forwarded about half a dozen books and requested/received about five books. Books are cataloge...

Re: Anyone into hot peppers?

In 1972, I worked with a very cheerful engineer named Larry Johnson. Larry loved jalapeñas and he kept a one gallon jar of jalapeñas and onions and carrots on his kitchen counter. So one day after work, we were going to have chili con carne at his apartment. Of course he offered me a jalapeña, but I...

North Dallas area....
A single jalapeña plant gave me more jalapeñas than I could consume (or give away).
Bell pepper went absolutely crazy. More than I could eat or give away.
Only once did I have luck with tomatoes.

Re: Alaska State Trooper

Them mooses are HUGE. When I was somewhat younger, I took a camera everywhere. On this instance, I was in Yellowstone N.P. and I came upon a herd of buffalo. I started walking toward them with the intent of taking their picture. When I got within (say) 50 yards, I began to notice how big they were ...

Re: 2011 Camaro Convertible vs 2010 Corvette Coupe

Three lessons I have learned... 1. Never pick up a cute puppy until you are ready to keep it; 2. Never sit on a motorcycle unless you intend to ride off on it; and... 3. Never sit behind the wheel unless you know how to pay for it. But even after saying this, GO FOR THE VETTE!!! ( I lean toward the ...

Yes, Dave. It burns. But why waste good lacquer thinner, when gasoline works so nicely?

Re: 9 officers to be Punished for Ft Hood Shooting

Now I know what is bothering me, and I think I can express it. Officers #1 thru #9 were told by their superiors that it might be politically incorrect to voice their concerns. But now, officers #1 thru #9 are disciplined, while their superior remains above the storm. <begin opinion> If we ignore the...

9 officers to be Punished for Ft Hood Shooting

Guys, This really really really irritates me. (I wish I could type what I really feel.) http://www.abcnews.go.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Two reasons: (1) remember what flows down hill? (2) We have to cover our you-know-what; (3) we were being politically correct, b...

I have ridden bicycles and been attacked and threatened by dogs.
I have jogged and been threatened by dogs (and that one was too close).
I have ridden motorcycles and been chased and threatened by dogs.
Does anybody but me realize how FAST a dog can attack
and how S-L-O-W a human can re-act?
