You raise a good point, but the article described the area of the theft as a road frequented by bandits and thugs. Sounds like vermin to me.
And yet the Ebola courier went there. Where better to set up an ambush?
Look, I have no idea if this was stupidy Or a planned attack. But I wouldn't rule either out.

Doctor in New York City tests positive for Ebola.

Went bowling yesterday.

According to a website I can't vouch for, Ebola patients are disappearing from hospitals. They come in with Ebola symptoms, but arnt there the next day when hospital staff ask about a patient who came in the night before. Seems far fetched that the CDC could keep this under wraps.

Re: Ebola outbreak in Africa

In discussing this on Fox News this afternoon, somebody said Obama doesn't see this as an Ebola problem -- he sees it as a political problem concerning Ebola. So the correct thing to do (from his perspective) is to hire somebody that can solve the political problem. Which is what he did.

Good luck getting a refund. Hope you enjoyed your vacation. Remember this when you vote in November.

Are you kidding me? That's an Ebola breeding ground!

Yeah, unless they've had an engine-room fire too, the current ship travelers should survive their ordeal without missing a single hors d'oeuvre.

mamabearCali wrote:Well it is confirmed kill. :mad5 Everyone from the hospital to the CDC messed up in such and egregious fashion that an easily contained problem now could be a nationwide major issue. How many will die for their incompetence?

I'd say fire the lot of them, their stupidity deserves that at minimum. But then what.....we need someone at the top and in the all the positions beneath that is competent and knows what they are doing. Sadly I doubt we would get that.....likely we would just get another community organizer. :banghead: :banghead:
Have you ever know Obama to fire anybody for incompetence? Not even Kathleen "Billion-Dollar-Website" Sibelius, for pity's sake! :ack:

CDC.....why do we have an agency like you that I pay taxes for if not for these situation to get the proper equipment in! Get your crayolas together and get to it! You had to know this ws going to happen. Get the proper equipment to the proper people like yesterday!
And, you know, if they didn't have the proper protective gear, they sure as heck weren't training with the proper protective gear, either. Presumably, the gear could have been shipped overnight (or couriered even faster). But they still wouldn't know what to do with it.

Just what is the point of repeatedly hauling these people all over the country, opening up new locations to potential contamination? AFAIK, there's no large, immovable piece of equipment other than an isolation ward that is useful in treating Ebola, so why can't whatever they need be brought to them?

If the plane crashes, how long will it be before first responders know that one of the mangled bodies they just bagged up was Ebola positive? If more mistakes are made in PPE protocols, why not limit them to the people and places that have already been at risk?

I could see taking them directly to one of the level IV wards as soon as the diagnosis is confirmed, but other than that, there's no good reason to contaminate planes and other equipment when everything needed can be loaded up and hauled around much more easily and safely than an infectious patient.
They said something about personnel issues at the hospital here. Sounds to me like the nursing staff was revolting.

They didn't say, but I presume by private jet, like they moved the other HC worker. Surely they wouldn't try moving her by ambulance...:

Quarantine does not mean you will be put in a common area with other people. But it does mean that by force if needed you can be detained and held confined for let's say the 21 day period needed to be sure you are not infected. It may be necessary to quarantine exposed people and not just this stupid self monitoring. The government will have to work very fast on this. Illness like this spreads in a geometric progression and because the incubation period is so long before symptoms show it can easily come to the point where government agencies are completely overwhelmed. Right now it appears they just don't know what they are doing. It's one thing to not scare the American public but I believe they should be scared.

Your earlier statement, "This may involve gated quarantine areas." implied (at least to me) that you were talking about common quarantine areas.

This, and quarantining people away from their homes (and the contents thereof) is more likely to result in serious civil unrest. Better to find a reasonable way to enforce "don't leave your yard" and prevent visitors. (Honestly, under the circumstances, if someone was willing to take care of my bills and other out-of-the-house chores and deliver food and other supplies, I'd sit out a three week quarantine as long as I'm allowed to use my yard too. Then again, I know I can sit and read for a solid week, which not everybody can do as easily.)
