IMO I wouldn’t get too hung up on the words “to allow designated people in the Jewish communities and institutions to own weapons”.rbwhatever1 wrote:As long as the right "designated people" can carry arms? Apparently once one loses the basic right to exist, that right is very hard to get back. I for one will not be walking down that road. I may be carried but I will not be walking...
"Rabbi Menachem Margolin…writes: “We hereby ask that gun licensing laws are reviewed with immediate effect to allow designated people in the Jewish communities and institutions to own weapons for the essential protection of their communities, as well as receiving the necessary training to protect their members from potential terror attacks.”
Speaking to Newsweek, Rabbi Margolin added that he believes that “as many people within the Jewish community as possible” should carry weapons.
We have a CHL. We are “designated” or licensed to carry. His statement that “he believes that “as many people within the Jewish community as possible” should carry weapons” strikes me as saying “don’t protect yourselves from terrorism if you don’t want to, but Jews are high on the terrorists list so don’t deny us that right”.
Those people in Europe are victims. They have set themselves up to be victims and are proud of it. If an off duty soldier can be beheaded in front of a crowd in London and the crowd doesn’t do anything to stop it they are sending the terrorists a message.
Some Jews refuse to be helpless victims again.
