Re: Oct. 2009 Applications
I also have a G23. Typically I carry it in an OWB Galco Concealable Belt Holster. Very easy to draw & holster. It's fine for the winter months, but I've already started looking for an IWB model. It just seems to big of a package to wear under just a t-shirt or knit shirt.vidrine2 wrote:Forgot to add, I picked up a Glock 23 and a KalTech .380 to celebrate. Can’t wait to carry, Any recommendations on the best holster for my Glock 23?

Re: Oct. 2009 Applications
Just got back to Houston this evening and found the license waiting in the mailbox! 53 days from receipt by DPS to receipt by me. That's way better than I expected. Based on everything I had read I was just hoping to get it sometime this year. Now a Wally Walk and the never ending process of improving my skills.

Re: Oct. 2009 Applications
I will only speak for myself, but the mailbox watch is MUCH harder than waiting for the app to be appoved. My app was approved last Friday. Nothing in the mailbox yet. Does anything happen after the app is approved? I.e. does it go to printing at that point? Any expectations on when the plastic should show up? I'm in Houston.

Re: Oct. 2009 Applications
Just logged in and found Application Completed - license issued or certificate active. Yes! What a difference a day makes! Thank you DPS. That's 45 days from receipt to issue.cdpsrjc wrote:Dad24GreatKids, My update came in the afternoon. Midmorning it was still 'processing'. Good Luck! Looks like it's normally 2-4 days until plastic. We'll see.

Re: Oct. 2009 Applications
Well, I seem to be making progress on a few fronts. My status with DPS went to processing application on 17-Oct. I've purchased a Galco Concealable Belt Holster for my G23C. And I've been able to spend some time at the range improving my skills. It seems like the wait times are going down. Maybe I'll get that plastic by the end of this year.....

Re: Oct. 2009 Applications
Thanks everyone for the welcomes. The wait is on. It's bad enough, but being an IT guy I see all kinds of things that could be done to improve the process. Something as simple as putting a bar code on the return envelope (if you apply on line). When the app is recv'd the bar code is scanned and the status is updated. Simple stuff like that would probably save lots of phone calls. 8 days down, ??? to go.

Re: Oct. 2009 Applications
I also mailed my app this month. I live in Harris County so it appears thatI might be in for a long wait. Any ideas on how long it takes from when DPS recv's the app until the status changes to Processing Application?
