i don't think anyone mentioned shooting stray dogs. But, if a large dog attacks (physically), then has proved itself as a dangerous animal and should be dealt with accordingly. I won't have a questionable dog....i had one that I sent to the pound to be put down because it bit a friend. My kids got attacked in my neighborhood by a neighbors dog. If I would have had a gun at that time I would have shot it too... as it was I gave the impression I was about to shoot it to the local PD and they promptly sent out a squad car. They found the dog in question and wrote the owner a $50.00 fine. never had an issue after that. it is really a time and place scenario. I can say being attacked by a dog is no laughing matter.... teeth hurt, and kids aren't strong enough to fight them off.Purplehood wrote:It might become problematic if you start doing preventive shootings on every stray dog that you come across...

Re: First Time to Pull My Gun
Personally, I would have just shot the dog. you never know if 10 minutes later a kid would have came by and got attacked by the same dog. usually, animal control is short staffed and cannot respond unless it is something serious...by why let it get to that point!
