Re: 17ac land w/shooting range, targets etc - 1hr South of Austin
I'm dying here. Looking for something like this east of San Antonio (Marion/Cibilo down to Adkins). This would be going for at least $170,000 there. Why am I always in the wrong place at the wrong time!!! It's about 35 miles East of Marion according to Google maps. It took me a long time to find, a...

17ac land w/shooting range, targets etc - 1hr South of Austin
(mods, apologies in advance if this breaks the Forum Rules, but it is genuinely firearm related) Hi folks, After ten years in Texas, I have relocated to Florida, and so am selling my beloved plot of land between San Marcos and Luling (actually on Plant Road), used exclusively for shooting and rabbit...

Re: PISTOL STORAGE WHILE ON VACATION?
This has got to be a group of trolls, the people saying "don't go to Mexico with guns". I never, ever said that. My question was how folks stored a pistol while in Mexico. I get it: don't take a gun to Mexico. Hmmmm... your original post was very poorly worded and your follow-ups didn't c...

duck tape...
Not many have mentioned a first aid kit; I wholly recommend a small zippered/sealed bag containing 4x4 gauze pads and a roll of duck tape, in your range bag. They are useful additions that can help slow blood loss until the paramedics get there in the event of an accident.

Re: PISTOL STORAGE WHILE ON VACATION?
For those of you who don't know, Nuevo Progresso is border town. I have been there many times, although not for some years. The town is within a very short walking distance of the U.S. border. For most of my visits I paid a couple of dollars and parked in the lot on the Texas side. I walked over th...

I have them, and love them...
I have them on a couple of P99s; one setup with the XS rear sight and one with a standard notch rear sight. I prefer the notch rear sight setup - you get the benefit of the large front dot for fast target acquisition but with more precise aiming for tighter groups at distance by using like a regular...

Re: Executive order adds two new gun measures
It's not about logic or effective policy; it's about incrementalism. You pass (or dictate by EO) what you can, whenever you can, and these small seemingly insignificant actions are never effectively challenged or indeed repealed by future administrations. Each one creates a precedent that then provi...

Re: Safest way to buy from out-of-state private seller ?
Insist to the seller that the sale be handled legally, and that means shipped by an FFL in Florida to your FFL in Texas. The two FFL's will coordinate the shipping and insurance and each of you will pay your own FFL. Tell your FFL to notify you when the FFL in Florida has possession of the pistol s...

Safest way to buy from out-of-state private seller ?
Hi folks, I have tracked down a particularly rare firearm that I have been looking for a while, and am in contact with the seller through a gun forum, and now email. The seller is in Florida, seems like a decent chap but only has 26 posts on that forum and no gunbroker/ebay account or activity on an...

Re: Had my 1st day carrying... Two words: TEXAS and AUGUST..
All good advice; will add to that with a recommendation for Eezox which has always worked for me to keep the rust off of the slide and other metal hardware. I also fill roll pin holes in polymer frames with melted crayon wax then smooth it off flush with the surface of the frame, which stops rust an...

Re: Carry Ammo
I would reiterate the advice to stick to 50 round boxes. Underwood ammo do some nice 9mm loads in the $25-$30 price range. I also like the black hills loads Cabela's usually have in.

Re: Providing training to non-citizens against the law?
Yes, I am a British Citizen and tried to sign up for a CSAT course with Paul Howe several years ago. With a sincere apology, Paul refused and cited the State Dept regulations which prohibited training of non-US citizens by someone with his background.
