No, that was the actual reason given by the White House. It was on an evening mainstream news station the same day as the funeral. They even showed a picture of Obama walking with a large binder under his arm supposedly containing his first choices being considered.mojo84 wrote:Did Obama or his staff actually say that or was it sarcasm by the poster?baldeagle wrote:Oh that's rich. So he and his advisors sat down and said, "How can we get the maximum insult value out of Scalia's funeral?" I didn't think it was possible for me to get more disgusted by this guy, but I just did. He hate America and everything it stands for, and he's bent on finishing his destruction before he leaves office.
And now the American people are narrowing down the POTUS choices to a criminal, a communist and a complete buffoon. I suppose it's a fitting end to the great Republic.

The official reason was released today. Obama had to stay home to begin his homework on Justice Scalia's replacement. As if any person he chose could touch Scalia's boot laces. Seriously, knowing Obama will try to replace him with someone who will destroy his life's work, it seems even more insulting than not attending the funeral.

Exactly. It's a matter of respect. Go. Keep your mouth shut and have some class. For a "change".

Of course not and I mean no disrespect of anyone's viewpoints here. It's NOT that I am saying someone (especially not his friends) surely slipped something into his food. It was most likely a natural death. I am saying causing a heart attack by other means is possible and has happened in documented cases. Considering who he was, and the political climate, an autopsy avoids those obvious questions. He was a great man and served our nation with profound devotion. An autopsy would have put to rest a lot of speculation that should not be part of his passing.

Re: Senior U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonin Scalia found dead
I am not a conspiracy buff, but it does boggle the mind that a Supreme Court Justice who has had no indications of problems can just die in his sleep and nobody in the backwater where it happened thinks an immediate autopsy should be done. No body in Washington takes control and says, Uh, we need to check this thoroughly. The cause of death will be listed as myocardial infarction (heart attack). "His heart simply stopped beating.. ." There ARE some agents that can cause that and then dissipate from the body very quickly. Without even a basic autopsy, they are totally ASSUMING he died from a heart attack caused by natural means. Just...wow. Really? We did an autopsy of Kennedy and we absolutely knew it was a bullet that killed him.

This is both frightening and depressing at the loss of such a staunch defender of our Constitution on the SCOTUS. Prayers for his family, friends, and our Nation. I am waiting to hear what exactly was the cause of death. All I have seen referenced was natural causes.
