My most American pistol has to be the 1911. Rifle - I'm torn between my Model 62 Winchester which is based on the first really successful pump/slide action (Model 1890 Winchester) and a Marlin 336 that is now the longest running lever action rifle in production. The slide action was designed to compete with the Winchester levers while the patents were in effect and ironically Winchester's was the most successful effort early on, beating out the Colt Lightning. The Winchester pump models had no trigger disconnect and are capable of firing repeatedly by pumping them. Sort of the first assault rifles. :cool: If I had an 1873 Colt SAA and an 1866 Win that would be the ticket! Both are iconic and probably are predominantly identified with American firearms.
