Re: Dick's to stop selling assault style rifles.
The last time I was there was during deer hunting season. I was looking for Federal .270 130gr Sierra BTSP ammo. They didn't carry it, but I saw a bin of Federal Auto Match .22LR 325rnd marked 2 for $20. The young man rang them up at $18.99 a carton. I took him to the bin and showed him the sign. He said it was wrong but he would ring them up at 2 for $20. Well, thank you very much! He removed the sign. BTW I haven't been back so I guess I can say that will be my last visit EVER to Dick'sOldgringo wrote:The last time I darkened the doors of a Dick's was in Salt Lake City where I purchased two bricks oh CCI Standard Velocity .22 for my beloved CZ 452's. IIRC I paid $30 for each brick. Does that give any clue as to how long ago that was?

Re: Dick's to stop selling assault style rifles.
I have been out of the sporting goods business for many, many years. Firearms sales were not the leader in sales dollars. Athletics, sports, fishing, camping, etc made up the majority of our sales. Profits on firearms and ammunition were slim also. We didn't have the myriad clothing and shoe lines most sporting goods concerns carry nowadays. I can look at an Academy store or a Dick's and tell you almost to a certainty guns and ammo are not the big profit departments.twjones wrote:Field and Stream is over priced too - they opened one near me about 2 years ago. Be interesting to see how long it takes them to go out of business.

Re: Dick's to stop selling assault style rifles.
I seem to recall they already did this after Newtown. The Dick's near me consists of three different sections in one location adjoining each other with with no physical separation. You can walk from one end to the other from right to left - Golf World, Dick's and Field and Stream. There are no firearms in the Dick's area only in the Field and Stream section. F&S had an entire section of Modern Sporting Rifles and Defensive/Tactical Shotguns a couple of months ago. F&S no longer has no MSR's on their website, but still have the Ruger Mini-14.
