Re: Carter Country-Pasadena
I visited Carter's Country again today to ask about their sign. It doesn't apply to CC. The fellow I spoke to said they have never worried about CC. They have always asked patrons have weapons in a safe state when entering the store via signage. I gathered by my conversation with him that there is concern regarding OC weapons based on some experiences. I will not relay his comments. I don't know if all Carter's locations have this same sign and I forgot to ask him. This is my last post in this thread.

With Fast and Furious exposed and shutdown these guys have to revert to the old ways.WildBill wrote:It's pretty hard to keep ten crooks quiet about something like this.GlassG19 wrote:You'd think that they would lock'em up even better this time. Live & learn. I'm betting the Police have 5-10 detectives working these cases by now, that's a whole lot of guns out on the street that the BAD GUYS got now & intentions I'm sure aren't good.WildBill wrote:I just saw that. The story said that there were 10 men involved!GlassG19 wrote:My wife was watching ABC 13 news this morning & just came & told me that Carters Country
(S. Wilcrest) got their front doors pulled off & were robbed early this morning & you guessed it, they stole a bunch of guns. How stupid can they get,,, ,, never mind,,, they can get pretty darn stupid. They will catch them!
I hope they do & recover ALL weapons.
I imagine they could grab quite a few guns in just a few minutes.
They said the same store had been burglarized two months ago and no one had been caught.

I'm a firm believer that they all will get caught by ratting each other out eventually.
BTW I don't think that their sign had anything to do with the theft.

Re: Carter Country-Pasadena
The way I interpret it, it's for OC and any firearm carried openly into the store. The Annoyed Man wrote:I assume that this only applies to open carry?

Re: Carter Country-Pasadena
I won't argue the logic, but it's obvious they want all openly displayed firearms to be unloaded and actions out of battery position. Now with OC it applies to those weapons as well. It never applied to CC. Bill Carter also has rules about being 21 to buy certain long guns. One can chose to abide by his rules or not.

Re: Carter Country-Pasadena
I finally had a chance to go to Carter's Country Pasadena location. As I recall there used to be a sign on the door requesting firearm be brought in open bolts, cylinders and slides opened. I didn't see that sign today but inside the store on a easel I found this the sign pictured below. They have no 30.06 or 30.07, but I assume they will ask to remove and safe up your OC weapon before entering the turnstile.

Re: Carter Country-Pasadena
mlsa, I didn't interpret your post as trying to raise a stink and considered simply as your sharing an experience and concern. I don't think any one else here thought you were either. I know I was simply sharing my experience and other's shared opinions. The manager said Bill Carter has implemented a change after the new law so I am going to visit CC as soon as I can to see exactly what it is.mlsa wrote:Ok, maybe I just misunderstood the sign but that's the reason I asked the guy. I did tell him that after reading the sign I took my gun back to the car and locked it up....he didn't say I misunderstood that it wasn't for concealed carry. He also said Mr. Carter had made that decision after the new laws went into effect....plus the sign looked new...
BUT...HEY WHAT DO I KNOW?
Wasn't trying to stir up a stink or anything...was just baffled by the sign.
Thanks for all your replies.

Re: Carter Country-Pasadena
I'll have to go check to see if it's the sign they've had for years, I see similar signs are at many gun shops.WildBill wrote:I may be wrong, but I thought they had that sign up for many years.
Not about open carry, but about bringing guns into the store.
