In some school areas I wouldn't feel comfortable WITHOUT my handgun. But idiots like this make it really hard to convince people that ...

Re: Anyone get a letter after 60days?
Aladinbama, Have you seen this letter Chas put together? Send it to them since you're pass the 90 day mark. (of course you'd have to be ready and willing to go to JC) http://www.texasshooting.com/TexasCHL_Forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=26962&start=0" onclick="window.open(this.href);retu...

Anyone get a letter after 60days?
Hello Everyone, I've just passed day 65 and am of course still waiting ;) I'm curious though. From what I understand, it's state law that after 60 days the DPS is supposed to notify you in writing if they have not issued or denied your license. They're supposed to tell you why there is a delay and g...

It would make sense for the courthouse to have it. Of course you'd never make it pass those metal detectors anyway :)
It's a good idea to know the list of places you can't legal carry though. I don't think they are required to post a 30.06. You're just supposed to know.

Anyone got a link to this? I checked the news on wfaa.com but didn't see anything.
It's my neck of the woods so I'd be interested in following this story as well.

Re: If a post office doesn't have a 30.06 sign...
Like others have said, federal property doesn't have to post 30.06 signs. It's just off limits. I'm pretty sure other places that are explicitly mentioned also don't HAVE to have a 30.06 sign. I know several PISD schools do not have a 30.06 sign, and I'm not sure if the McKinney courthouse has one e...

Re: POLL: Does the 2A give the right to own assault rifles?
Voted Yes, I have one seriously fundamental problem with the majority of gun control laws. 1) Who is stopped from committing a major law (felony: aggravated assault/rape/murder) by the existence of a minor law (trespassing, unlawful possession of a firearm, breaking & entering)?? What criminal s...

Re: Prior to Having License in Hand....
Wow. Just came across this thread and... well, wow :eek6 Hopefully it won't even be on your record since the incident was dismissed (or rather, couldn't be used as evidence to support say a straight revocation should you accidentally commit an offense in the future). I've had many conversations with...

Re: deranged shooter in workplace DHS wisdom
Thanks for sharing. It was an interesting read. There is some great ideas for those not comfortable carrying their own weapons IF the shooter is not in their general vicinity. But the ridiculousness of it all really becomes evident when the shoot is right in front of you and your life is "in im...

It seems to me that intolerance is 99.9999% a comfort issue for the general population. Why does it seem like intolerance is at the heart of most social issues these days (though I guess it's not really just "these days"). But that's kind of the point I was going for. No, I'm not quite su...

Re: What constitutes 'written notice'?
It's my understanding that for a person carrying using their CHL, the only legal written notice is a properly formated and displayed 30.06 notice. So no, even though you read that notice you can still carry at the hospital if you have your CHL, there is no 30.06, and you have not been asked to leave...

It seems to me that the issue of Open Carry is 99.9999% a comfort issue for the general population. How will your average Dick and Jane react when that 6ft African American male walks into a store with a firearm on his waist (please don't consider me racist :???: but you know what I'm getting at) Th...
