Re: ammo on sale
I stopped over to "Cleaner Than Dirt" after I got off work today. And I went gaaa gaaaaa at the quantities of ammo they had. I've never seen so much. All calibers, varied brands. No shortage on ammo there
As I was only focusing on .380 that's really all I looked at: 14 different brands of .380 alone. Here's a sampling:
WWB 50 count; 95gr FMJ: $21.95
Fiocchi 95gr XJHP: $29.97
Remington 100 count; 88 gr, FMJ: $42.95
Federal Premium Hydra-Shok JHP, 90 gr.; $22.97(didn't get count...I think a 20 count box)
Winchester Bonded PDX1, 95gr, 25 count:$19.97
Remington Golden Sabre; 102 gr, JHP, 25 count: $21.97
The prices weren't all that great, but they had plenty.
I picked up a box of the Win.PDX1 ammo.
First time I've ever been in there. I'm working about a mile away from them this week & had to go in. Glad I did.

Re: ammo on sale
That's good news tiger1873, for .380 shooters! Looks like things are slowly easing up.
Like you, when ever I go to my local Wal-Mart 9mm, .40, .38 special & .45 are in pretty good supply. .22 in overstock situation.
It's a good omen I tell ya!

Re: ammo on sale
I stopped by the Wal-Mart closest to me(I-30 & Eastchase Pkwy, Arlington/Ft.Worth border) and they had everything as SIA's sighting, EXCEPT the .380, plus they did have 8 boxes of Winchester PDX1 S.D. ammo in .45. Good to see they are finally getting in some .380 SOMEWHERE in wally world.
Same pricing at my location as SIA's.
They had that stuff too, but 13 boxes of it. I've never seen it there before.9MM Luger, orange and black box, Ruag Ammotec of Switzerland,
124 gr, FMJ, 50 rounds, $16.97. About 6 boxes.
Same pricing at my location as SIA's.

Re: ammo on sale
Hi Flattop22, welcome to the forum! There's a wealth of information here at your fingertips and a wonderful bunch of guys & gals to get to know.Flattop22 wrote:Academy Sports and Outdoors do sell cheap ammo namely inthe Monarch brand. They are made in Russia and can either get them in brass or steel, steel being cheaper. The only thing is the powder used on the ammo is a little dirtier than what we use here in the states.
Actually, Monarch branded ammo comes from 2 sources. You are correct in saying that the steel cased ammo comes from Russia. But the brass cased ammo comes from Prvi Partizan in Serbia, and it's labeled on the box "Made In Serbia".
Prvi Partizan is good ammo. I've been shooting it lately, and it is digested well in my gun.
Don't know about the steel cased ammo. I shy away from it.

Re: ammo on sale
Well, sorry to hear that Joe. Bummer. I think you'll find when you get back home, you won't have to forage for .380 ammo. It's not everywhere, but you can find it in several places.
Safe journey!

Re: ammo on sale
I'd love to know that when Wal-Mart ever gets .380 in stock what brand is it and how much they're charging for it. For ANY location in Texas.
