Re: SB11 & HB910 This week....
Late to the party on this, but oh so glad it passed! Sorry I missed it. Will watch the re-runs later.
Congrats Charles. Your hard work paid off. I thank you. And I thank Alice T. of TSRA for all her hard work, and the NRA lady, thank you as well(I apologize, don't remember your name.) All of your efforts were ardious, and difficult. But persistance prevailed! Thank you, thank you, thank you.
And thanks to all of our legislators who voted to do the right thing. Thank you! This was a hard fought battle, and your efforts shows you common cause and unity. Well done!

Re: SB11 & HB910 This week....
Yup. It goes back to the House for a "concurance"(agreement) vote. They either agree with the amendment or they don't. No debate is allowed. Just voting for/against the bill as the Senate has returned to the House(with the Huffines amendment).CJD wrote:To the House.viking1000 wrote:Pardon my loaded question.... Does it have to go to the house still, or does it go to the Governor ?? It says nothing else.
Charles posted in his "Call to Action: HB 910" thread a perfect summation of what is left to be done on the bill, and I'm cross-posting from that thread:
"If the House concurs then it goes to the Governor. If the House doesn't then it goes to conference committee if there is enough time. If there is time and a conference report comes out, then each chamber has an up or down vote. if its close enough to the end of the session, then Democrats will filibuster and the bill dies.
Chas."

Re: SB11 & HB910 This week....
I'm not sure of the timeline/deadline. But the Calendars Committee has not published their minutes for yesterday, May 22. So it might(hopefully, keep your fingers crossed, lol) be on that one. Also, the House will prolly call for a calendars committee meeting on the floor of the House today, to schedule a calendar for the early part of next week, and here again, it might be on that one.TexasJohnBoy wrote:So, SB11 must be on House calendar by 10:00PM Sunday night -- is this correct? Any word on that side of the fight?
Note: Don't hold me to anything I say, because I haven't figured all this mess out yet...if ever.
Bottom line: I have no idea.

Re: SB11 & HB910 This week....
That's my understanding as well. Simple yea or nay, with no floor debate.safety1 wrote:I do believe that one day is dedicated to concurrence votes on both side.K.Mooneyham wrote:So if it goes back to the House, is it de facto dead because they won't get it done?
They are up or down votes, no amendments

Re: SB11 & HB910 This week....
What happened was that Sen. Huffines is trying to re-introduce the Dutton amendment, and it started a LONNNNGGGGGGGG series of debate, which in essence was turning into a filibuster. And it lasted so long Sen. Estes called for postponement until 6:00pm so they can resume senate business and continue the debate at that time.Kolamer wrote:Until 6pm? They are usually done for the day by now, but the day before a long weekend they are working late?

Huffman sure put up a compelling argument on the Dutton amendment! At this point I honestly don't know it it would help or hurt passage of the bill today.

Re: SB11 & HB910 This week....
I think the opposition will offer all 22 amendments as they did when debating SB 17. They know all 22 amendments will be tabled, but they are doing this to "save face", just to say "well, we tried".

Re: SB11 & HB910 This week....
Amendment 3 - shiny badge - withdrawn!
The opposition is just rehashing the amendments that were shot down in original debate. Doing nothing but wasting time.
Amendment 4 - cities to "opt in" open carry???? Crazy!

Birdwell talking about SB17: "I've been assured that SB17 WILL be heard"! So it's not dead!
