Re: John Lott, author of "More Guns, Less Crime", coming to

I found this quote funny on a website:
Perry's Democratic challenger, Bill White, said he supports the state law that lets people with licenses carry concealed handguns. But he wants individual schools to decide whether to allow guns on campus.

He said Perry's position "is the government ought to coerce campuses to allow concealed handguns on campus."
Uhm, Correct me if I'm wrong, but even IF Campus Carry passes, any PRIVATE university could STILL ban CHL with a 30.06 sign on buildings
Unless there's something in the statute that says they would not be able to? Its been a while since I read 2009's Attempted bill.

Government universities would not be able to, but government law is not 'coercing' a state owned campus.... it's government governing government....

and Codename46, look for me I'll be there .... dark hair, glasses, goatee beard, blue 5.11 covert casual shirt (and if you have X-ray vision - Crossbreed with G27 :coolgleamA: )
Haha I'll also be donning 5.11 covert casual. In the sand color.

Thanks for your support guys. We don't have a Paypal setup yet because everything's still hectic today. I hope to see y'all there.
Unfortunately, I can't be there, as much as I'd love to. Being in Houston and all.

Instead, I sent Austinrealtor some gifts to being with him from myself ;)

I hope this goes really well for you guys tonight. Any chance of it being recorded? I'd love to see it posted on youtube or something.

Also I'll do this ... anyone who contributes cash (at least $20?) toward this I'll give them half-price on their next CHL renewal or a new license class. Will have to get with Codename46 to figure out who contributed but will worry about logistics of that later.
Thank you so much for your support!!!!

If you have a paypal address we can send money to, I think both TAM and I would prefer that, if not, we will try to give it to someone who's attending.

What a great angle to pitch to the news crews who are already down there and gun-focused that the Concealed Carry on Campus group is hosting a related talk tonight. I imagine you'd have a few journalists falling over themselves for the piece! Start calling them now! Start with TV crews then move to print then to online.

"I have a great piece to pitch to you in light of the unfortunate UT shooting. The UT Concealed Carry on Campus group has a previously-scheduled speaker tonight presenting on the topic of 'More Guns, Less Crime.' The presenter is an [award-winning, or whatever accolades he has] author who says that [whatever quote he actually says] having more guns on campus would reduce gun crime and that it is the gun-free zone which attracts criminals who want easy and defenseless victims, which they are sure to find in our schools due to the gun-free school zone laws. Due to the ongoing investigation on campus, the talk has been moved to Brave New Books conference room at 1904 Guadalupe Street at 6 PM and the media is welcome to attend. Attendance is [cost--free?]."
:iagree: :iagree: :iagree:

If I was in Austin, I'd be all over helping out!

We know the antis live by the "Never Waste a Good Crisis" mantra. Being that no one was actually injured (other than the gunman) in today's debacle, this is about as good as a kicking off point as it can get for this!
