Re: June 2009 Applications

Remember folks, as of september 1st, LEO's are not the only ones who can do the BG Checks anymore.
Now the technicians at DPS can run them themselves.

This is probably what is speeding up the process for everyone. Great to see it!

Is this what they told you? If so, that's interesting...
I guess the procedure now would to be to call the DPS immediately, and find out what they think they're lacking, and request that they look over it again, because you completed it properly...

Perfect.... :mad5
You can call them, like, right now, and see why, so you can have it ready to send immediately after you get the letter.

Reading your sig, I'm going to take a wild guess and say you applied for the 1/2 price discount for military?
Did you send them your DD-214 that says 'Honorable' as the type of discharge at the bottom, and/or a copy of your DD-256 Certificate?

I sent the DD-214 that didn't have the Type of discharge on it, That's what they got me on.. :mrgreen:

If you purchase any more firearms, and are delayed or denied, in order to keep it from happening again, there is an appeals procedure you can follow to allow NCIS to keep a record on you, that you are a verified eligible citizen to purchase a firearm.

Normally, each time NCIS Runs a check on you, it is treated like it is the first, and only gun you have ever bought. After the check, within 24 hours, any and all records of you purchasing that firearm are supposed to be destroyed.

The appeals procedure is detailled here: http://www.fbi.gov/hq/cjisd/nics/nicsappeals.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Specifically, I am referring to this part:
If you continue to experience transaction denials or lengthy delays as a result of subsequent firearm background checks, you may be eligible for entry into the NICS Voluntary Appeal File (VAF). For more information pertaining to the VAF, you may contact the NICS Customer Service at 1-877-444-NICS (6427).
