I bought their entire stock. (kidding)

As a special bonus, get this: I go to Texas City for the first time in something like six months, spend three minutes in T's, and run into El Gato. He looks good.

Glad you got some 380 gun food. One of my 380 eaters is now in Colorado being worked on so I have plenty of 380 for now :fire

Tom was the guy who taught my wife and I to shoot and who we took our CHL class with. Great guy. Didn't I read that he was in Fort Hood during the shootings? Is he OK?

seniorshooteress wrote:Yeah the LCP isn't a range gun; but I like to practice with what I carry. I try to get to the range at least once a week. When it starts getting cooler (where I can wear heavier tops , jackets, vests, etc. I will be out there practicing with my Bersa Thunder and my Ruger SR ( a bit bigger gun) my winter carry is different from summer carry due to the clothing restrictions of summer. I can only take an hour of shooting those LCP's which is okay cause an hour of the heat is all I can handle as well.
It never hurts to practice with your carry weapon. My wife didn't shoot her LCP on Friday, but you can bet she had it on her. :)

My usual carry weapon is my G30 and it was out and getting used. My BUG is the Bersa Thunder but it was in pieces in a packing box ready for a trip to Colorado. "rlol". I think I only got to shoot one through the G19 and 3 or 4 through the G30...but it was fun. :fire

I agree with you about the heat though...it was hot out there. Marksman looks more and more attractive with it's air con! :thumbs2:

Where do you get the ammunition? I can't afford to shoot .380 for five minutes. :grumble

Re: Range Report 06/18/2010 - Texas City Gun Range

SeniorShooteress : Indeed we did speak. Hope you enjoyed your outing. Those little LCP's are good little guns but not very good range weapons IMHO. You looked to be doing just fine to me. :thumbs2:

I have hgeard stories of CHL holders that never go to the range from taking their CHL class right up to renewal. That scares me!

It is always good to meet a Tom Estep alumni too. :fire

Re: Range Report 06/18/2010 - Texas City Gun Range

Yes...I picked up a Taurus 709 :)

I also need to clarify the 'no human images' targets. Silhouettes are fine, just no 'human' faces on them. I am not sure if Zombies count though :)

It isn't a big deal to me, it was just a bit of a surprise that they didn't allow them. Iguess it is because they are a city run range? :headscratch

Range Report 06/18/2010 - Texas City Gun Range

Yesterday my wife and I took a couple of members from our church down to the gun range in Texas City. My wife and I haven't been there for a long time, and it was close to where our friends live, so that is where we decided to take them. One of them was a first time shooter. :fire

The range was pretty quiet at about 1:30 but of course it was hot out there. Unfortunately the only breeze there was was blowing the aroma from the 'water treatment' plant across the range. Pheeew :grumble On the plus side...no mosquitoes! :thumbs2: Total cost for the four people with three guns? $12.99

I took on the roll of instructor for the first time shooter and changed out the slide on my G30 for the .22 conversion kit. My wife shot the XD9 and the other guest shot the G19.

The targets set up at 3 yards and the fun commenced. Having given the safety instructions, my student shot her very first gun. :fire

After about 40 .22's were dispatched into the target the other guest asked if he could shoot the G30 with the .45 slide on it. 20 seconds later he got his wish.

Personally I only actually shot 4 bullets all day but I still had a great time. The female quest was a self confessed 'gun scaredy cat' but she did fine after the initial shaking and fear. She settled down and started a pretty nice group (all to the left and slightly low, but not bad for the first time).

The male shooter is now wanting a a G19 AND a 45!

My wife, as usual, shot the snot out of her target with the Springfield. She actually enjoyed putting a few through the G30 too. The male guest ran about 50 through the G19. He really needed to slow down but for some reason he was just blasting away (safely) but not too effectively.

The range was in good condition, the staff were friendly and very safety aware, and all guns ran flawlessly.

All told a great little outing, fun in the sun and 2 more poeple less afraid of the big bad gun :patriot:

Oh and on the way past T's I picked up a new 'little friend' ..... what a great way to spend the day!

:tiphat:

Edit : I didn't realise that TCGR doesn't allow targets that have human images on them. Just a heads up :tiphat:
