It may not be the weight: some of the Thunders had an issue wiht the inside edge of the slide stop being long enough to catch on certain shapes of bullets. Load the mag with a couple of each type, and cycle them through by hand one at a a time. Check for a scratch on the bullets from that edge. If that's doing it, a few gentle passes with a file should knock it down enough to clear the problem without impairing its function.

Bersa's are pretty good pistols overall, but they do have some problems/weaknesses with the .380 line. I own a BT380 and 380cc and have had problems with each that had to be resolved. I wound up spending almost as much shipping the guns, several times, to an authorized repair site as I did for the guns. But, both pistols do work reliably now.
