Why cowards???? Some people just mind their own business and dont want to get involved because they have families at home that they would like to get to. Now if anybody decides to act, their chances of getting back home just dropped. Think of all the legal trouble you can get into. Im no coward, but I have kids to live for.

I agree with you to a point. If she's punching you with a closed fist like a man, I'm all for equal force. If she's slapping, I can hardly see a face punch knocking her out or breaking her jaw as equal force. Subdue with equal force, if at all possible. This is the karate philosophy my kids have learned and I agree with it 100%.

Many of you raise an excellent point about becoming involved as a person of opposite race and or gender. Sad fact that if there's not a video to represent facts clearly, I can see it easily becoming a case of persuasion and who has the better attorney, a la OJ Simpson.

As for drawing my weapon; honestly I'm not sure there was (in my case) time for this, and had I been in front of that car well maybe the driver would have tried to run me over. And as big as that female attacker was, I dunno that this old (>65) guy could have taken her one-on-one...

( i was raised to never hit a woman so to begin with i'd already be fighting instincts ) what happens if the driver steps out of the car? what if they're armed? what if the driver is another woman? what if one or both attackers are of another race? disparity of numbers and the preconceived notion of gender along with race come into play big time here..... please don't get me wrong, i'm not trying to come off as sexist or racist, but what do you think popular opinion of me and how i reacted to a situation would be conceived today in our "changed" society? even though i shave my head for convenience, and it's a heck of a lot more comfortable for 10-12 months out the year. not to mention it saves a ton of money in haircuts! I was also raised and spend a lot of time outside the city so jeans and boots are the best suited for me. If you haven't guessed by now I've also been told i have quite a southern drawl as well. anyone who knows me would know that it would take a grieve threat to get a grieve response from me, but our legal system is so complex nowadays you almost have to pass the bar exam before you can really understand what could and is likely to happen in the million scenarios we could face everyday, throw in a liberal judge who hates guns (we've been seeing a lot of that now, especially on the federal level), or a crooked prosecutor who only care about their conviction % in court and I would likely be looking at some serious jail time for something that 20-30 years ago would be the expected thing to do when a person is in trouble and needs help......
