Re: February Applications

On day 102 here... Don't live in Harris county, but I did for the last three months of the necessary 5yr history....lame. So I am still waiting on my background check from that lone DPS worker in Harris county. I am moving in one week...I had asked them to change my address on my application three weeks ago, even faxed them a document stating so. Just called this morning and it has not changed, lady didn't even have a record of my request, yet she said.."well, if you faxed it in , then we probably gave it to the person who is in charge of your application, so I wouldn't worry about it". If I finally get my plastic and it is the wrong address, therefore making me pay again to have the address changed...I will be super *irritated. How incompetent can DPS possibly be, it astounds me.

Re: February Applications

Alright now........I'm getting tired of waiting. They just keep telling me that they are waiting on my background checks to come back. To those who have gotten their licenses (assuming you still check in on us pee-ons who are still waiting :) ) Did you have more than one address listed on your previous address section? I had three, seeing as I graduated from college within the last 5 years...and moved twice at A&M. So I'm wondering if that is what is taking so long....

I'm moving once again back to Houston at the end of May and i'm just hoping it gets here before then. Otherwise that just sounds like it'll take forever to change it to my new address before they even issue it......... :banghead:

Re: February Applications

Yeah I figured somebody would chime in with a comment like that. We'll see what happens. Looking on the bright side, at least I'm not in Harris county, and I know my application is rock solid :)

Re: February Applications

Well, my 60 days is up this thursday, put in a call to State Senator Van de Putte's office this morning at 1:30 am and received a call from Alexis this afternoon! She called DPS and said would get the ball rolling on things! We'll see what happens! I'm not so sure Senator Van de Putte is pro-gun or even pro chl for that matter, but hopefully this will light a small fire under DPS to get my license to me a little quicker. Anyone else in the san antonio area get their CHL recently??

Re: February Applications

I WON'T LET YOU RAIN ON MY PARADE!!!!!:

I just got off the phone with DPS and they told me it is 60 days after receiving your application. Mine was received on Feb 10th, so she said 60 days from there I should check back. She told me mine was still in the "background phase" of the application. I would be spending my wait time at the range............but I can't find ammo!!! $70 for a 100rd box of .380 saturday at the gun show in san antonio......I did find 200rnds of .40 for $72, figured that was a fairly good deal.

Anyway, it at least sounded like they were "working" on my application.......thats good news I suppose.

I'm from the San Antonio Area, anyone know how long the wait has been lately for Bexas County ??

Welcome to the forum! I received mine over a year ago - it took 98 days. Not sure how long it is now.

Where did you take your class??
Are you in SA? I took it at the bullet hole off 90/1604, 70 bucks and included everything to mail it in. Even had the sheriff's dept. out there to run the prints for us, they doubled checked them so hopefully they will not get kicked back to me. I'm hoping for a ~60 day wait....currently on day 45..........but who's counting :) I have a squeaky clean record.....hopefully that'll help.....
