I may be incorrect, but I seem to remember checking a 'I am a citizen' box somewhere...
The affidavits didn't have any citizenship questions. The fingerprint cards do ask for citizenship.

The main application has a "Place of Birth" and if I recall correctly, the instructions say that if your place of birth is outside of the US, you have to provide a copy of your passport (or green card if not a US citizen). I'm a naturalized US citizen so I had to provide a copy of my passport.

Your time line almost mirrors mine exactly and I'm in Tarrant County. Maybe that bodes well for all the folks in Harris County.

My status also changed overnight. Unlike you though, I haven't received mine in the mail as yet and with today being a holiday, there is no mail delivery :-)

Re: April 2009 Applications

I just had to call DPS....I called them and to my surprise I was told my license was approved and it's being sent to be printed and issued.

The website still says "Processing Application" so I guess it's a little out of date.

Congratulations!

I can see myself getting more and more anxious as other June applicants get their CHLs. I'm not even in Harris county!

Re: April 2009 Applications

I've been pretty patient so far, but now that my wife has had her CHL in hand for a week now after having submitted her application 1.5 weeks after me, I'm starting to get impatient.

I've been checking every day now as opposed to once a week before.

I can't imagine why she should get done any faster than me.

I'll probably give it another week and then start calling senators.

Re: April 2009 Applications

My wife received her CHL in the mail today!!! She submitted her application about 1.5 weeks after I sent mine in. I'm still waiting. We've lived in Tarrant county for 3 years and in FL for the 2 years before that.

She has never checked her status online so maybe that's the secret :-)

I wonder how that is going to affect me. I live in TX, but I actually telecommute and I work for my company that is in FL. I also lived 2 of the 5 years in FL. I would love to know if they would be trying to get some kind of background check from FL.

Now you've gone and done it.....I was checking my status about once a week but since your and your wife's dates are so close to mine, I'll have to check mine every day now :-)

Checked today...still processing.

stsai465 wrote:My app still says "Packet mailed to Applicant". When I mailed it, I sent it w/ confirmed tracking, so I know the packet was received on April 24. I filled the app out online, so I got my PIN when they mailed me the app, but apparently they haven't started on my packet yet (fingerprints/photos/class completion/affidavits/etc).
Keep in mind that DPS got my application about 3 weeks before they got yours and mine only just changed to "Processing". You may have to wait another 3 weeks to see that status change.

Wow, I checked my status online this morning and I also moved to "Processing Application". I know I have a while to go again, but it's great seeing something change on the web site. Now I get to watch and agonize over "Processing Application"

I am surprised to see that in 15 days I am already in processing. Now lets hope for no problems and it get here. I am addicted to checking status, is there a meeting for that. : )
Wow. How did you manage that? :-)

Mine was sent at the beginning of April and when I checked earlier today, it still says "Packet Mailed to Applicant"!!

i can only assume this means my app. must not be processing or not entered into the system yet.
That must be the equivalent to "Packet Mailed to Applicant" that those of that did the application online see :-)
