Re: Carrying in Arkansas - 30.06 Equivalent?

I travel to AR frequently, so I called the State Police last year to discuss their laws. The gal on the phone was friendly, but not very helpful - she simply said "The laws are basically the same as in TX." Mostly that's true. I specifically asked about signage, and she said there's no 30.06 equivalent. A picture is not sufficient notice - it must have the language "Carrying a handgun is prohibited". I also asked about the requirement to notify an officer, and she said there is none.

There are three other major differences based on my own research and reading of the statues. As previously stated, a CHL'er must notify a homeowner if he intends to carry into a private residence. Also, carry is prohibited in any place of worship. Finally, Arkansas is a duty-to-retreat state. Deadly force is authorized in most of the same situations as in Texas, except that you may only use deadly force if you cannot flee with a reasonable expectation of safety.
