That is my problem. No .45 *other than carry*, no .380 6other than carry, no .38 at all. I got some .22 and 2 boxes .223. Looking again tomorrow at Bass pro.

Dang. And I really tried to explain how I had parked intentionally away for the major parking area. I know I said something about the van that was there when I came out ot the store. Oh well. I wasn't aware that the small car would leave and a panel van would park in that spot. The UHUAL is always somewhere right around there because the Rent a Center uses it daily.

Sorry - thanks for the advise. Maybe next time I just bum rush him into traffic.

Congrats on the plastic issued TODAY! 2 -3 days and your set!! But it is a holiday weekend. Dang it! I hope it is quick in the mail and you get it before.

Another neighbor and I are trying to find an hour or 3 at BulletHole on Monday. Maybe lunch at Schlaetcsky's (Yes, I didn't look it up on google but everyone of you know what I am talking about - that Sandwich place on Potranco.) Anyone interested?

I was describing the man to paint a thorough picture while asking for advice. It had nothing to do with his social value. It had to do with an older man grabbing my cart and pulling it about 4 feet away from me (I had to take a large step to grab the front of the cart.)

Further update - I did contact the Manager of the HEB on Monday. He called the police to take a report. I retold the story and was told by the SAPD officer that "it would be a cold day in "a warm place" before an officer would have arrested me." HEB Manager also swore out a tresspass order to keep the guy off HEB property.
I was called on Tuesday afternoon by the manager to say that the man had come back to the HEB store, police were called and he was arrested and taken by the police in handcuffs.

Thank you to everyone for helping me wrap my head around this. I am still new (since January 2009) to carrying but in all honesty, I probably would have said the same thing even if I wasn't CHL. The whole incident, from start to finish lasted about 10 seconds. That resulted in an hour and a half writing my statement and being interviewed by the officers. Now I get to wait to be called to testify if this goes to trial. Hopefully it won't.

Longtooth - that was what I was thinking as well. It was all very fast and I was startled to say the least. Thanks for answering folks! I do appreciate the help. I feel that I am pretty lucky it didn't get weirder!

Had to go get some groceries at HEB. I parked off to the side (not directly in front of the HEB doors but off to the side in the main FRONT parking lot - not on the side of the buiding.) I parked to the right of an old UHaul panel truck. A small car was on my passenger side.

Went in, got the stuff and was putting it in the passenger floorboard on my truck. The small car left and van was parked there. UHaul was still there. Point is, I couldn't see either direction other than along my truck - front to back. I was in the open door of my truck with the basket basically blocking me in (pulled cart in behind me as I opened the door.)

I had put 2 bags in the floorboard, turned back to get 2 more bags and saw my basket getting pulled back. I looked up and an older black man (obviously either homeless or without any way to do laundry) pulling my basket out from between the van and my truck. As I grabbed the front of the basket he says "give me some change and I'll give you your basket." He didn't sound threatening and he was smiling but I was a tad bit startled and just a wee bit upset (changed for 10 year old rule - I'm learning). I reply, "give me my basket or I'll shot you in the face." Didn't yell but was trying to sound intemidating. I never reached for nor did I pull my weapon (as that would have been wrong.) He turned and walked away quickly. I watched and he crossed the parking lot. I quickly finished putting my groceries in the truck, shut the door, locked the truck, pushed the cart to the holder thingie. Came back, got in my truck and drove out. As I crossed the main street in front of HEB, the man is standing on the corner with a "I am homeless and hungry. Please help. God bless you?" sign seeking contributions.

Now, a day later...I am wondering if I might have done wrong by threatening even if I made no indication at all that I would or could follow up on the threat. Did I mess up?
