Re: Woohoo!!! Is this a new record?

I took my class on 11/17, and mailed my paperwork on 11/18. Delivery confirmation showed my packet arriving in Austin on 11/20. My plastic was waiting in my mailbox this afternoon. Total time: 18 days from the day they received my packet, counting weekends. WOOHOO!!! I am so unbelievably stoked! Wa...

IIRC any gun in the car is "carried" under any CHL in the car (pre HB 823) -nick That's what I presumed was the case, but it's a very very gray area. I was gearing this question towards CHL statutes rather than HB 823, because we already know technically this is ok under HB 823. The real ...

Others access to a handgun while in a vehicle.....

I have read many posts here regarding various traveling issues, but I have never seen this weapon access question asked regarding other parties. Say you have a CHL but are traveling a long distance so you decide to move your handgun into the unlocked glove box for comfort reasons. If there are other...

Congratulations RedRaider. Mine also took 68 days. Hope your first day of carry goes well! I am around the mid 60 day range right now and when I called today they said my application was still processing. I asked if there was anything that was still holding it up and the lady made it sound like it ...

My packet was received on Feb 22nd, so I'm right in there with you guys. When I called yesterday they told me that they were still waiting on county information to come back :???: I'm hoping to get my CHL before my roadtrip on May 12th; it'll be ironic if it comes in the Monday after I leave town. -...

I made a call to DPS today since I am on Day 61 and the woman who I spoke with was nice, but mentioned they are running behind as others have mentioned. My packet was received on 2-22, and she said they were waiting on information back from the counties. The strange thing to me is that my record is ...

My packet was delivered on February 22, and I just got my pin today 3/24. The letter was dated 3/22, so exactly 30 days later I got my PIN.

Now I get to wait with the rest of you

I finally made it by the Austin IIS office this week to get my prints done. 15 minutes after walking in and I was back out the door. The service was great, and I can see how rolling inked prints would be more difficult. The person who took my prints mentioned that electronic submission to the DPS sh...

Complete Online CHL Application?

It appears the DPS is changing up a lot of things lately because everytime I go to the DPS website it looks different. Today when I looked there was an online application so I started to fill it out just like I did my paper application. I hit the end and got to a page to pay the $140 with a credit c...

Technology sounds great... But I have to wonder if they'll reject the prints in Austin because they are not "real" impressions, they are electronic renderings of the original??? With the electronic prints you still have to go to the site in person, provide ID, etc. There are also two opti...

First, the locations page is located here on the Identix website. I went through and did a mock purchase and the cost is $9.95 so its reasonable. I also went through more of the info and found another page with some "detailed" presentation type slides. Read the PDFs at the bottom I'm going...

FAST - Fingerprint Applicant Services of Texas

I've been reading up on Texas CHL info for a little while, but while reading the DPS site I came across Locations for Fingerprinting on the main site Has anyone done electronic fingerprints, and if so how do you send them in? From what I've read the person who fingerprints you must also sign the bac...
