The doctor has died. Second death in the US from Ebola. RIP
Important to note that no one who was infected with Ebola in the US has died. It appears that early treatment has been very successful within the U.S.

Patient 1 in Dallas, a nurse who cared for Thomas Duncan, tested positive for Ebola.

Very bad news for caregivers.
Especially given the fact that the caregiver was in full protective gear when dealing with patient 0. Either the caregiver was infected when disrobing or the protective gear being used is not sufficient. Either way, this thing is transmitted in a much more efficient way than we are being led to believe.

Family upset at "unfair" treatment of their dead relative. Photo with Jesse Jackson.

So any guesses how much the "unfair" treatment will cost the taxpayers of Dallas. (not counting anyone else he gave it to and their treatment)
Unfair? The guy lied and in the process exposed a country to a deadly disease. I'd call THAT unfair.

Rex B wrote:We have a great location for a quarantine. I say anyone with a passport stamp from a West African country must layover there and stay for 21 days. We would staff it with ebola medical specialists. No symptoms after 21 days? You are free to go on to your North American destination.

It's called Guantanamo.

And yes, we could still use the small part reserved for terrorists. I'm sure they won't mind.
Cuba would be a great spot for them to visit.

Re: Ebola outbreak in Africa

It's only a matter of time before this thing mutates to an airborne virus. We need to pressure the governments of the affected areas to start using proper protocols in dealing with this thing or it will affect millions instead of thousands.

Re: Ebola outbreak in Africa

If this thing truly is spiraling out of control it is because of lack of education and strict adherence to tradition. This has been stopped in other places because they did what needed to be done. They disposed of contaminated clothes and bodies quickly and properly and they isolated the infected.
These idiots chase the infected out of hospitals and steal the mattresses the sick were sleeping on. They refuse to change the way they handle the dead further spreading the disease in the process.
The only thing these people need to be saved from is themselves. We haven't done a great job of helping people in other parts of the world do that and we won't be successful doing so in this case either.

People not wanting an Ebola quarantine hospital in their area, attacked it. Scattering the patients with Ebola into their large city. In addition the hospital was looted. People carried off mattresses containing bodily fluids containing the Ebola virus.
No cure for stupid.
