Re: Texting in theater sparks fatal shooting
My court experience is limited to episodes of Ironsides and the OJ trial, but isn't there something about a spouse can't be compelled to testify? How much of her statements are admissible? Is this a case of shut your mouth until your lawyer gets there for her as well as the husband?03Lightningrocks wrote:After reading it again, I think we both got our wires crossed up. The story didn't say the video showed anyone leaned over anyone. It said Vivian,(crazy nuts wife), claimed the dead guy leaned toward her nut cake husband. Then the story said the video showed a confrontation but never said the video showed any contact or leaning. Sounds like the crazy old guys wife is trying to help justify her whacked out husband being a cowardly, cold blooded killer.Pawpaw wrote:I think you've got your wires crossed. It was the dead guy that stood up and leaned over the shooter.03Lightningrocks wrote:If that video shows that crazy old man initiated contact by standing up and leaning over the victim, it is not going to work out well for the crazy old BG. Maybe the story was wrong at first but how did popcorn become a cell phone? Sounds like crazy old BG is trying to make it sound as though he was in danger. I would love to read the crazy old guy is getting "special" treatment by his fellow inmates.
Vivian roasted her crazed killer husband with this statement.
Reeves' wife told a detective she didn't see Oulson strike her husband, but he told her he had been hit in the moments after the shooting.
Vivian Reeves also told detectives that Oulson used expletives, but didn't make any threats. She cried during the interview and said she didn't know why her husband fired the single shot.
Right here she testifies that she never saw what her husband claims happened. His cop training made him realized he shot an innocent man. He made up the hitting part to cover his rear end.

I think my $20 popcorn and drink would go flying through the air if I saw some crazy old guys necking in the theater.Oldgringo wrote:Old people shouldn't be allowed to go to movie theatres; especially, crazy old guys. If they're not 'necking', they're shooting up the place.

I am going to work on some self improvement in this area
In the past, my wife would often place her hand on my arm and say, "Sticks and stones honey". I would then turn to her and say, "I'm not a 5 year old". To which she would respond, "Then stop acting like one". That would usually do the trick.
Then she figured out I was much better behaved while carrying. So now when we go some place, she makes it a point to ask if I'm carrying. I reply, "Of course" to which she replies but exhaling a sigh of relief.

It causes me to think twice before responding...in most cases. Having the weapon on me causes me to be less likely to hop on a guys face and bite off his ear.anygunanywhere wrote:03Lightningrocks wrote:This story really bothers me. It hits too close to home. Had dinner with the SIL and daughter last night and we talked about an incident that I was involved in a few months back. It was very similar.
We were sitting in a theater and the previews and commercials had not even started yet. The theater was fully lit and the screen was simply rolling those silent local adds. My SIL and I were quietly talking shop when this old cranker,(about my age...LOL), on the front row says to us, "you two need to be quite". Well I say back to him... "there isn't even any sound from the theater yet, we will be quiet when the movie starts". Well he fires back by calling us "butt holes" only he used the slang for butt. Now that made me mad so I say to him..."You and me. Outside". Of coarse my daughter is now scolding me and his adult son is scolding him. His son says sorry guys and my daughter says, no problem. He and I say nothing else to each other and he looks forward to watch the silent advertising. We lowered our voices to a whisper and everything settled down.
The conversation last night was about how that could have gotten out of control. And of coarse my daughter makes me out the bad guy. She started thinking she was my mother when she turn 30.
I suppose anyone pulling out a gun never crossed my mind. Even though I was armed. I didn't even think about my gun. But he sure could have had one.
Looks like you have your conflict resolution skills honed to a fine edge there 03LR. I like your style.

I'm much more polite and accommodating when I'm armed. Weird how that works.

According to another article:03Lightningrocks wrote:I got another hundred that says the shooter tries to use the "stand your ground" laws as a defense!
"Needless to say, Alabama-based Cobb Theaters are gun-free zones"
ETA: not sure why this article references Alabama when this happened in FL.

Re: Texting in theater sparks fatal shooting
Yep, texting kills.
This isn't about texting. It's about a guy who lost it, probably a while before he entered the theater.
