Re: Instructor recertification class
In their defense (and mine a little, since I was up there trying to help them with setup), the folks in charge of the community center wouldn't allow DPS in on Sunday afternoon to set stuff up, so they were quite pressed for time. Sure, the screens were too small, but you had the slides right in fr...

Re: Instructor recertification class
I too was in the first class on 8-14-2017. LET ME STATE CATEGORICALLY THAT I TRULY APPRECIATE EVERYONE AT DPS! I HOLD THEM IN THE HIGHEST REGARD, SO MUCH SO THAT I HESITATED TO COMMENT ON THIS THREAD. :tiphat: They have a very difficult job, however, while that is true, it is also true that the leve...

Re: DPS Update for Instructors
I just got my email with the dates and times, but no information about where in Georgetown the classes will be held. Does anyone have that information? I am going to have to drive up on Sunday for a Monday class so I need to find a motel/hotel nearby.
TIA

New CHL Student with Insufficient Work History!
I have a student who wants to get her CHL but she only has 3 years of work experience. She is trying to fill out the online application but she is unable to proceed past that screen. Is there a trick to get it to allow her to complete the application? TIA :txflag: Ok, figured it out... she had to pu...

Re: Required NAICS Codes and SIC Codes for LLC
I just found this helpful link: http://www.naics.com/naics-identification-help/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; How do I find my SIC Code, or, I have my SIC Code, how do I find my NAICS Code? We offer Cross-References – both SIC to NAICS and NAICS to SIC, on the NAICS Code I...

Re: Required NAICS Codes and SIC Codes for LLC
Here is the information I was sent In regards to your inquiry, an establishment primarily engaged in providing firearm training or instruction without selling would be under NAICS code 611699, "All Other Miscellaneous Schools and Instruction". Below I've include the 2012 NAICS description ...

Required NAICS Codes and SIC Codes for LLC
I started an LLC for my CHL business last year and am required to make certain filings throughout the year. This is my first Annual Report and they are asking me for these codes: 6-digit North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code. NAICS Codes are numbers that indicate your primary li...

Re: PC §9.34 (b). PROTECTION OF LIFE OR HEALTH
Deadly force (of course) is more than just a handgun. You are evacuating a house that is on fire. Someone is refusing to leave. You can use force to yank him out of there. If it turns into a struggle and you knock him out with a head tap, say butt of gun, that could be construed as deadly force. In...

Re: PC §9.34 (b). PROTECTION OF LIFE OR HEALTH
I am still looking for an answer to this that involves the use of a handgun. (b) A person is justified in using both force and deadly force against another when and to the degree he reasonably believes the force or deadly force is immediately necessary to preserve the other’s life in an emergency ....

Re: PC §9.34 (b). PROTECTION OF LIFE OR HEALTH
I can't think of a gun-related example. As Excaliber stated: "a firearm is not the only or appropriate tool for everything." Maybe a better example would be if a person were in a car accident and his arm was smashed between the door and frame. A medic could amputate his arm [deadly force]...

PC §9.34 (b). PROTECTION OF LIFE OR HEALTH
Can someone provide me with a handgun related example/senario that I can use in my CHL classes to explain this statute? Re: Using a Revolver for the CHL Proficiency
To the best of my knowledge, nothing in the regs mandates how a firearm is to be manipulated during the Texas Concealed Handgun License Proficiency Demonstration Course of Fire. That's kind of my understanding too, however, I was told by another CHL instructor what I indicated above (immediately af...

Using a Revolver for the CHL Proficiency
Can a DA/SA revolver be shot in Single Action only for the CHL proficiency? I was told at one time that the first shot in each drill had to be in DA and subsequent shots could be in either DA or SA only.
I haven't been able to find anything in the regs about this.
TIA

Re: Bullhorn/Megaphone Purchase
This is a decent unit. 50W is plenty and you can hang it on the shoulder strap and use the micrphone so you don't have to hold the bull horn up all the time. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=&sku=652511&gclid=CM69nZDS6r8CFScV7Aod3xUAeg&Q=&is=REG&A=details" ...
