Re: July 2009 Applications

My plastic arrived Saturday as well - 56 days from the day I took the class to arrival. And you guys had me worried it would take until December...

Thanks! I live in Travis County. I'm sure it helps that I have had the same residence and workplace during the entire timespan of interest.

I need to check with my dad - I think he sent his in within a day or two of me. He's in Jackson County, so it will be interesting to see if that makes any difference.

You'd better believe it.

Application Completed - license issued or certificate active

I know it was still processing as of Monday, so I was turned around in less than seven weeks.

Time to go holster shopping!

I went ahead and mailed the application as-is, but I will definitely go to the Austin FAST site if I get any pushback.

DPS needs to update the green CR-75 form they mail with the applications given that it sounds like the policy has changed. It says:

By Rule, the applicant must deliver the following documents to you:
...
3. Two blank Applicant fingerprint cards supplied by DPS (a DPS card and an FBI Card, or two FBI Cards).
...

When they spell it out that way, it certainly makes having two DPS cards in the packet seem like a packaging screwup than the current accepted standard.

Thanks for the info. Now I'm second-guessing my second-guessing.

July 2009 Applications

...because that sounds much more current than "April 2007 Applications".

After my first attempt of applying online in '07 and then failing to take the class, I recovered my PIN from DPS and went through the online process again in June. I finally had the opportunity to take my class yesterday, and the application is going in the mail tomorrow.

Question for anyone else who's applied online recently: what fingerprint cards were you sent with your packet? I got two of the state cards but no FBI card. After my class, I swapped for one of the FBI cards in order to match what the directions require. Other classmates had received two FBI cards or two state cards.

Looking forward to posting again around my birthday in December that my plastic has arrived.
