This week, Speaker Pelosi and the liberal leadership have rejected a basic principle of our democracy. Under an obscure and Constitutionally questionable procedural rule, the House of Representatives is poised to vote on a package of amendments to the Senate version of the health care bill which passed that chamber on Christmas Eve. Under the rule written by Speaker Pelosi and Rules Committee Chair Slaughter, passage of this amendment would “deem” the Senate version of the health care bill to have passed the House – without an actual vote on the bill. I certainly wouldn't expect them to respect the constitution! Our only hope is the Supreme Court and that is one heartbeat away from "change."
I fear for the Republic.
