I was beginning to think I would challenge Kalrog for the record, but Geopagus was right that I would get mine a few days after him, since we both sent in our apps a few days apart. I still think many of these lengthy times are attributed to the specific admin who handles your app at DPS, and whethe...

Well my CHL finally arrived in today's mail. From the date of their receipt of my packet to delivery in my mailbox, total elapsed time was 89 days. I am in Tarrant County and this was a new license.

Wishing everyone in process, either new or renewal, a speedy issuance!!!

I got a return receipt and still ended up in the 85 day club, nevertheless, I would recommend doing this for your own peace of mind.

This morning I am at 85 days and the website still says processing application. Called the 800 # to inquire about status and they told me the license would be mailed out this afternoon and to allow 7-10 days for delivery. I guess I should be happy about that, however, I really do not see why there s...

Congrats to Geopagus and to those fortunate enough to have received fast turnaround! I am at 83 days and still getting the same old processing application message. I may try calling them again tomorrow. Its hard not to be irritated when others seem to get fast service, while others languish.

I am also beginning to think this depends who at DPS handles your application and whether or not they do any follow-up on the background checks that are taking too long.

I highly recommend the Safe Shot class taught by Ft Worth Police Sargent Keith McGuire. Cost is $75 for everything, and is given in down town Ft Worth. Sargent McGuire gives very good insights into do's and don't and with his good sense of humor the class was a lot of fun. He is also a champion mark...

I am now sitting at 71 days, so decided to place call this morning. They advised they are waiting to hear from FBI on background check, and to give it a little more time. I guess given the climate we live in today this should be no surprise, with items like CHL going to back burner.

For those that have experienced more than 60 days, and called DPS for explanation, did you remind them of the statuatory 60 calendar day timeframe, and if so, how do they react?? Unfortunately much of their processing is dependent on input from others and is out of their control, unless they are sup...

Update - I emailed DPS yesterday requesting my PIN, and was pleasantly surprised to receive a reply this morning with my PIN. As expected the online site indicates Processing Application and I assume that status probably won't change for at least another 30 days.
