There is a blog post I'm trying to find that seems to have disappeared.
OK, I finally found it - took me long enough:
http://hecatescrossroad.blogspot.com/20 ... ctive.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Quote that reveals the "effectiveness" of whistles is about 3/4 down through the post, after the newspaper story:
When her body was later found in the hospital parking lot, the whistle was still between her teeth. She had blown it until it filled up with blood as she died.
To meander (only somewhat) off topic, I found this whole blog to be quite interesting. And the lady is a Witch, not a Wiccan, and she loves guns, horses and dogs.

There is a blog post I'm trying to find that seems to have disappeared. I KNOW I had it bookmarked, but it is just gone. It was from a blog posted by a Wiccan, a lesbian, or both. I think the title of the blog starts with a "C" word that is almost Gaelic sounding, but I can't recall it anymore. Can I be any more vague in trying to describe this??? :headscratch :confused5

Anyway, in this post, she explained the necessity of carrying a handgun instead of a whistle.

Someone she knew (IIRC) had a restraining order against (or was being stalked by) an ex. She was unsure and uncomfortable about getting a gun, and was talked into/given a whistle instead. Well, the guy attacked her in the parking lot of the hospital (or doctor's office) where she worked, and he killed her.

The line that really stuck with me, though, was: "they found the whistle, still in her teeth, full of blood."

If anyone knows where that blog is, or the link to that post, please post it, because I really need to forward it on to some people.

Re: Texas gov. shoots, kills 'wily' coyote during jog

I suppose these poor people have been educated. If so, why is it that they cannot read? Or think critically? Or think at all?

The "WildEarth Guardian" spokesperson said:
“With all due respect to his manhood, 90-pound women in tennis shoes effectively scare 30-pound coyotes away with a sharp shout,” said group spokeswoman Wendy Keefover-Ring in a news release. “We're sending Governor Perry a plastic whistle so he can leave his gun at home.”
While the AP report clearly quotes Perry saying:
"I holler and the coyote stopped. I holler again. By this time I had taken my weapon out and charged it. It is now staring dead at me. Either me or the dog are in imminent danger. I did the appropriate thing and sent it to where coyotes go," he said.
I guess the agenda matters more than the facts. Why do I even bother? :banghead:

I didn't notice that either.
From the article:
"I holler and the coyote stopped. I holler again. By this time I had taken my weapon out and charged it. It is now staring dead at me. Either me or the dog are in imminent danger. I did the appropriate thing and sent it to where coyotes go," he said.
I am assuming that he meant he racked the slide to chamber a round.
OK. I did see that. For some stoopid reason, I thought he charged the 'yote in an attempt to scare it off first, then dispatched it when it didn't run off.

I was under the impression you "charged" the magazine with rounds before you loaded the gun. Or do you load the magazine and then "charge" the gun by chambering a round? :headscratch
LOL... I read it just the way you did. I bet we are correct.
Alright. That's two of us. I say we were right in the first place. All these other guys are wrong.

So there. :smilelol5:
