Re: Lucio's amendment
This amendment, as well as the on by Senator Van De Putte are only aimed and gutting this bill as much as possible. I'm especially troubled by Van De Putte's amendment to exempt schools connected to a hospital. So there goes UT Health Science Center San Antonio, UT Health Science Center Houston, UT ...

...and had the Campus Carry Bill, proposed this session, not been "chubbed" to death by the democrats.... we'd have our right to carry on college campuses...... Don't forget the lack of effort by certain Republicans, particularly on the Calendars Committee. I assure you I won't forget. I ...

SA Pharmacist Shoots Would-be Robber
In the future I will be taking my prescriptions to this pharmacy. Thank goodness nobody but the BG was hurt, and I'm glad that SAPD isn't demonizing the owner for using deadly force. Re: In case anyone is looking for SB730 and SB729
What I find insulting is that Speaker Straus said something to the effect of: "I don't think that the people necessarily want us passing thousands of new bills." What do these people think that they were elected to do? Their SOLE purpose is to pass legislation. Anything else is secondary. ...

HB 1893 is dead. It was not voted on by the house deadline so it died. This senate bill is the last opportunity this session to get it passed.

Re: Elementary school safety
The mentality I am pretty sure goes along the lines of "it will never happen to us."
I highly doubt any school system would hire undercover PD to provide the type of security you described, and each campus is lucky to have one full-time LEO on site.

Re: Campus-Carry Bills are dying!!!
I called all of the members of the Calendars committee. Chavez and McReynolds staff both took down my name and number. Cook and Kuempel both asked where I was calling from. Kolkhort's staffer mentioned that she is a coauthor of the bill and is pushing hard to get this bill moved out of committee. Th...

I cannot and will not be involved on an ongoing basis, unless TSRA/NRA take on the project. If we do, then I'll jump in with both feet. Chas. I suppose I am about to be accused of taking the "GOD" of TexasCHL.com out of context and be banned. OH, well!!! Even if you put the statements bef...

Re: Parking Lot Legal/Illegal?
Nope. You are not breaking any state laws in Texas anyways. That's not to say if discovered by university police you won't be expelled since I'm sure it is in every college handbook not to bring firearms onto campus, so bring it in your car at your own risk. I used to, but being only a year away fr...

Re: Parking Lot Legal/Illegal?
No. State law defines a premises as being a building or part of a building. Unless that parking lot is posted 30.06, you're fine to leave your weapon inside your vehicle to enter the premises.
The only exception, of course, is federal property.
