Fort Hood shooting
I don't know if this is acceptable here and if it isn't, moderators please remove . My thoughts and prayers go out to all those involved in the horrific events that took place today at Fort Hood, TX. So far 12 dead and 31 wounded, the shooter (so far only 1 person identified as the shooter) was kill...

Re: Submitted my application, let the clock start ticking
70 days total including weekends, and I got it on my Mothers birthday. Not bad from some of the timelines that I have seen on here.
Good luck to all of you that are still waiting.

Re: Submitted my application, let the clock start ticking
Received a letter from DPS on Oct 2nd stating they needed an "unaltered" copy of my DD-214. I realized that when I made a copy of it, I had misaligned the form and had cut off part of the form number. I made the copy showing everything including the complete form number and returned it the...

Re: Submitted my application, let the clock start ticking
Roan, I did basically the same thing. I printed the fees page, wrote it in myself and even "checked" my own box. I hope the folks there have a sense of humor about it.

Submitted my application, let the clock start ticking
Submitted my application on Friday the 28th of August. I filled out the application, but I printed the fees listing from the website showing the $70 veterans fee, the application didn't show it under the special provisions. I hope that the fine folks in the processing center can figure out what it m...

Re: What's the Origin of Your User Name?
GMCRetz = Chief Gunners Mate (United States Navy, retired) and Retz is the beginning of my last name (Retzlaff). It is usually the way that service members holler for each other; by your last name, nick name, or some version there of.

Shooter's Warehouse has filed for bankruptcy
Shooter's Warehouse has announced the closure of 12 stores and had filed for bankruptcy. Don't know if this will close them down completely, but I would hesitate ordering from them until you at least contact them via telephone to confirm what you want to order is available and will be shipped immedi...

Re: Don't bring a pistol to show and tell
When I was in 6th grade I was hanging around in the courtyard before school waiting for the bell to ring. Some kid had brought a bullet to school (not sure where how he got it). He and his friends were taking turn throwing it as hard as they could on the ground trying to make it go off. Even at tha...

Re: Who has a list of TXDPS approved ranges by the range number
We are considering that, we have a call into the state to see if we can get it through phone / email process. If all else fails, we will reregister the range.
Thanks again,
Ron

Sharp Shooter, Corpus Christi
The Sharp Shooter is a range that is connected to gun sales and CHL training. The owners and clerks tend to be very amiable folks and I have purchased a number of guns from them. Most times they are proud of their product "read a little more expensive", but their customer service, selectio...

Who has a list of TXDPS approved ranges by the range number
I am the Security Service Manager at Naval Air Station, Kingsville, TX. My trainer is a licensed CHL instructor and has permission from the current station Commanding Officer to conduct classes on the station, on a "not to interfere" basis. The pistol range is listed on the TXDPS list of a...
