Re: November '08 Applications

So mine wasn't fingerprints, but I was asked to send more info on an "arrest" that wasn't an arrest. I just listed it to be safe. Had my plastic less than 15 days after sending them the requested info, Christmas break included. :cheers2:

Re: November '08 Applications

That's odd, my status never changed from "App Processing" until it was complete, even when they sent me a letter asking about more info on an "arrest".

Re: November '08 Applications

Yes it does. Suprisingly enough, I wasn't nervous at all. I think I got all the nervousness out at Sights and Sounds of Christmas here in San Marcos when I ran around with an AirSoft gun in my concealed holster. There were cops everywhere and lots of people and no one said anything. Did have the jitters for the first hour or so, but after that it was all good. Now with my real gun it's no big deal. :thumbs2:

FYI, there is no such thing as carrying under the Castle Doctrine. What you are referring to is the Motorist Protection Act that was invoked under HB 1815 last year.

Thanks for clearing that up. I guess for now I'll just keep my gun in the trunk to be safe until the plastic gets here.

Re: November '08 Applications

WooooooooooooHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!1!!11111eleven!!!!one!!!1 :hurry:

Just went to check and it's complete and issued... not bad for taking the class Nov. 1st and having them send me a request for more info around the 8th of December.

Now I just need to not get pulled over here while I wait for my plastic... unless I want to be the test case for that "What if..." post.

Re: November '08 Applications

That's good to hear... I was wondering the same thing after they requested my records from the County Clerk over an arrest THAT WASN'T AN ARREST. :banghead:

Re: November '08 Applications

Well, my and my big mouth...

Just got a letter from Austin today and noticed that it was void of plastic. Upon opening it I found out that they want more info about an "arrest" which wasn't an arrest. I wrote on there that I had been charged with assault by my ex room mate's coke head girlfriend back in 2006 when she charged into my room and started trying to punch me in the face. I calmly shielded my face and left (was headed on a trip to South Carolina). She then called the cops and pressed charges. The Hays County Sheriff told me the only reason I wasn't arrested is because I was out of state at the time that he showed up. After I returned and gave him my written statement, he told me that he'd take it to the DA and let me know if they were going to prosecute it. I never heard from him again.

A quick check with the County Clerk's office showed that I had a totally squeeky clean record before I mailed off my application, and since there was nothing there, I wrote down that I had no papers to send in.

Well, they want a certified criminal history from the County Clerk... as if I didn't sign the thing that said they can go check my background themselves. :grumble

So I'll be doing that tomorrow and then mailing it off asap.

Re: November '08 Applications

Just wanted to finally say hi after lurking for a good month or so.

Took my class at Bass Pro in San Antonio on Nov. 1st with Josh Felker as the instructor, even though I'd only had 3 hours of sleep he kept me interested for the whole 1-day class. I got my green stub back from USPS on the 4th, and then received a PIN about a week ago. My status has been "Processing Application" since I first looked at it.

I got my IWB holster from CrossBreed today (based on reviews from members of this board) and have been concealed carrying my airsoft gun all day. Went to work, filled up on gas, and did a little shopping with nothing interesting happening. :thumbs2:

It seems I don't need bigger pants because I'm a 30" to 31" waist and all my pants are 32". The holster fits so well that I've already forgotten I'm wearing it, even occupied with my Beretta .40 and a full magazine (only around the house for now though).

I realize I'm probably one of the youngest guys on the forum at barely 22-years-old, but I have to say that I could not be more impressed by the CHL holders that I've met, both here, in real life, and the CHLers-to-be at the training class. It's truly an honor to almost be among your ranks.

Edit: For some reason I said Cabela's instead of Bass Pro... must be because there's one close to San Marcos where I live

I now keep my rifle in my trunk and am going to purchase an 18.5" barrel shotgun as soon as I have the funds available.
