any advice on locating 1911 parts cheaply? I figure there are places with good supplies. I was checking out a crimson trace and the laser sights are almost as much as the gun!?!?!?!?! I do want to change the sights out (if I dont get the laser) and hope that wont be too hard...as well as the beavertail.

I brought 2 friends with me and now they want 1. That bug just keeps biting people :-)

Having been bit by the 1911 bug, I made my first 1911 purchase. I did a lot of research and found a solid 1911 in my price range...the Rock Island 1911. I already purchased a kholster and was wearing it when I went to the gun show in ft worth today (yes, I was that prepared ).

The first mod will be to change the beavertail on it and possibly upgrade the sites....but I do want to get some grim reaper grips for it.
