Help with a question
This past week i was in a social security office. There was a law officer with badge, i.d. and gun. No uniform. He was a local town policeman. The gun carrying security guard that was near the front entrance wouldn't let him in the building. The guard wanted him to go put the gun in the car. Officer...

Re: Picked Up a New Ruger LCP Today!!
congrats on the new LCP. I bought one for my wife- she loves it. But there's one more addition for this model that "wakes" them up-- a crimson trace lazergrip. Model LC-431. You wouldn't believe how much easier it is to get on target. Especially with the short sight plane of this pistol. I...

Re: Looking for a new gun safe
The new champion safe was delivered today. Sure looks bigger in my home than in the showroom. Looks like it's going to be a keeper. The guys from Lone Star Safes did a good job getting it moved in. It is nice having all that room for the guns and related goodies. So far looks like the best "ban...

Re: Looking for a new gun safe
Well, i went to the Pasadena jewelery (oops- i meant gun) show and one safe company was there. Fort Knox, nice safes but a lot out of my price range. I left there and went to lone star safes on 1960 and found a real good selection. Finally settled on the champion trophy series. It will hold 20+ long...

Re: Looking for a new gun safe
Thanks guys for all the info. I wasn't going to mention names but sportsman safes was the one with all the complaints. Sure glad i found that out before i went to their store. I did look at what Cabelas had- looked good too. Champions are real nice, looks like they've been around a while. I'll be lo...

Looking for a new gun safe
My present safe is getting a little crowded and is really not a good secure model. I've been on the computer looking at all the different types and brands of safes. I was going to check out one thats made in Houston, but after finding so many complaints of poor workmanship and even worse customer se...

Re: shot the kimber
My darling wife gave me the o.k. for the Kimber i've been wanting for a long time. Its a pro crimson carry ll . This is the first lazer sight gun i've shot. I went over to Marksman that day and tried it out ( couldn't wait). I was amazed how much these old hands move around looking at the dot down r...

Re: Taurus 709 Slim Range Report
I bought my wife a 709 last month. She has put about 300-400 rounds thru it. So far she's had 4 or 5 failure to fire. All the primers were dented. The ammo has been Winchester target (white box). I know the 4 or 5 misfires are only 1% failures. Since this is going to be her carry, i'm not sure if i ...

Re: Gun range for trying out guns
Jim, thats the one. Hers is in the stainless upper model. Seems like the grip size and angle of grip suits her well. We may try to make it to Marksman monday eve. I think ladies shoot free that night. She did mumble something to the effect that i had too many boxes of 9mm and she would try to help m...

Re: Gun range for trying out guns
Well- my "better-half" has found a gun that she is happy with. We found a taurus 709 "slim" in a 9mm. She liked the feel of it and the slide action. My only concern was the long trigger pull and the hefty trigger spring.May take a little getting used to. It does have more recoil ...

Re: Gun range for trying out guns
Everyone has been a fantastic help. I think we'll go out today and see how the different guns grip feels to her. Then we can start from there.
Thanks a million for your valued info and offers. Great group !

Re: Gun range for trying out guns
Thanks for all the ideas. Helps me "weed out" some of the compact guns. I think she wants to try to stay with the 9mm, she feels comfy with that. I see a lot about PSC on here. Could you tell me what it is and where is it located. All the folks on this forum have been a wealth of informati...

Gun range for trying out guns
I'm in the process of finding my "better-half" a 9mm small frame gun that will fit her hands better. Are there any ranges (nearHouston) that have guns to try out? I'm looking at Tarus,kel-tec , bersa-etc. She wants to be able to shoot one before we buy it. She's going for her CHL in the ne...
