Just an update here: I got my packet yesterday, along with my card, welcome letter, bylaws and badges, making me an official life member. Thanks again, Mike.

It looks like I got in just in time, then. The NRA billed my credit card on 3/2/09 for $300.

When I talked to Diane, I told her that Mike was "a friend from an internet chat forum" and that was good enough for her.

Mike, I hope you don't mind me calling you a friend, but since you sponsored me on this you're my new friend.

FWIW, when I called I was on hold for 6 minutes before Diane answered. As we were talking, she mentioned to me that there are only two people who answer the phone in that office. So, if you call, you have a 50% chance of getting Diane.

I just got off the phone with Diane and, thanks to Mike, I'm now an NRA life member!
