Re: Passage of TX Senate Bill 321

FYI for those who are interested.... I ran across an article from the Texas Firearms Coalition, written by a Charles Cotton . I really hope it is the Charles Cotton of this forum. It was an article written about Texas SB 321. The following is an excerpt from that article dated June 13, 2011. In orde...

Re: Passage of TX Senate Bill 321

Ok.... Are you say the parking lot must meet all three or will only one of these prevent a CHL holder from stowing at a plant. Because ........ At my plant..... (i) that contains the physical plant ( my plant is further into the complex and secured entry is needed for access. (ii) that is not open t...

Re: Passage of TX Senate Bill 321

OK guys......people keep telling me that I should be able to keep my weapon stowed in my locked vehicle while parked at my chemical plant job. The way I read it.... Sec 52.061. Says that I can then Sec 52.062. says "Exemptions" (a) Sec 52.061 does not (2) apply to : (F) property owned or l...

Re: Senate Bill 321

No, you are not excluded if you are and employee, have a CHL and park in an unsecured parking lot that does not meet the restrictions listed in the statute. My company and others just like it would argue that it IS a secure parking area. Even though security is actually 200 feet further into parkin...

Re: Senate Bill 321

Well obviously I don't like it but let me say I don't intend to insult anyone that furthers our gun rights. It is just very discouraging to be in my position. I work in a chemical plant and from what I do understand of the bill.......I can't have my gun in my car unless I am willing to be fired. Jus...

Re: Senate Bill 321

This was a compromise that had to be made with the Petro-chemical plants in order to get the bill passed. So what you are saying is.......that our Texas Law makers pass laws based on what the Texas Petrochemical Industry want? Figures.......my rights go out the window so the lawmakers can get oil m...

Re: Senate Bill 321

And? What's your quesiton? I am not a lawyer, what does this mean in plain english? I know I am not the only one who does not understand? What the heck is an air authorization under chapter 382, Health and Safety Code and how does it apply to stowing a gun in your locked car in your employer's park...

Re: Senate Bill 321

SB321 "Employer Parking Lot Bill" provides a lot of protection to workers. If anyone doesn't want to rely on SB321, then don't. Chas. (F) property owned or leased by a chemical manufacturer or oil and gas refiner with an air authorization under Chapter 382, Health and Safety Code, and on ...

Re: Senate Bill 321

Based on the attitude of your HR department I think it would be hard not to worry, but then again how would they know? Do they search cars often? If not then keep it concealed and keep your mouth shut. Exactly Paul! It's hard not to worry about it! If I got fired.... I feel I would eventually win.....

Guns are cheap and can be replaced easily. I'll trade a gun for a life! Especially my life or one of my family members. I'll risk getting mine stolen!

Re: Senate Bill 321

Well what does SB 321 do for me when I work at a chemical plant and the company still says " no firearms in your locked car."? I work at a chemical plant in La Porte, TX. I currently hold a valid TX CHL license. I spoke with my human resources manager about SB 321. His response was, our cu...

Re: Senate Bill 321

...the law looks good on paper...but in the real world, doesn't protect us much... I personally think Keith hit the nail on the head. Our government screws up everything they do. Including this bill. EDIT 9-2-2011 When I made this statement I was uninformed. Please read the following... http://www....

Re: 0 Days to Parking Lot!!!!!!!!!!

It will if I can keep it in my car. I work at a chemical plant. The law is so confusing. I have a CHL. Can I keep it in my car without getting fired?
