Oh - I finally heard from my State Rep in response to the e-mail I sent them over a week ago seeking their help... they sent me a form letter e-mail to let me know that they do not accept e-mails. It suggested I call their office. :banghead: :banghead:
An update:

When I am wrong, I certainly do not mind standing up and saying so..... and I was totally wrong in my earlier comments about my State Rep's office.

While we were missing each other on the phone, the Rep's office had made 4 phone calls to DPS on my behalf.... none of which were returned by DPS. The Rep's office was constantly working on my behalf, just waiting to hear back from DPS before they contacted me back.

I was also told this morning that my State Rep is also a CHL holder ! Her office is aware of the problems that CHL holders have been facing with delays, etc. While they normally have good responses from DPS with most inquiries, they seem to only have problems with the CHL division.

So, I now have plastic in hand, and the State Rep's office has still not heard back from the CHL folks. I know that must be as frustrating for her and her staff as it is for the rest of us.

He also said that if he could have open carried,

Re: December applications

Well. even though I saw the magic words on the 13th, still no plastic in hand here.

If it doesn't come in today's mail, I'm gonna have to make a trip out to the country to buy hay and oats...... so I can feed the Pony Express rider's horse when he finally shows up. "rlol"

Re: December applications

I received this e-mail from the CHL office this morning in a reply to my inquiry last week:

"It looks like we are in the final stages of processing.

Please allow a little more time for completion."

My State Rep's office has not even acknowledged my e-mail. :headscratch

Re: December applications

Well, I just sent all the information to the office of my State Representative.

Maybe they will be able to get straight answers. I hope so.

Re: December applications

Interesting phone call with Felicia at the CHL office today.....

When I tried to check the online status of my December submitted renewal this morning, I kept getting a message stating that the information I was submitting was not the information they had on file. A phone number was listed, so I called and spoke with Felicia.

She first said that their system was experiencing problems, that was the reason for the error message.

Then she proceeded to tell me that I did not need to check the on line system but every 2 or 3 days, that checking it daily did no good.

She also stated that I needed to wait at least 60 days to check anyway. When I told her that her office received the packet in December, she said "oh". She then asked for my social security number to check on things.

In short order she came back and said that my background check was the reason, that it had something do do with my criminal history. When I replied that I have never had a criminal history anywhere, she said "Well it must be something do with child support." When I replied that I have been married for 27 years and have never had an issue with child support anywhere, she said "Well it might be something to do with mental issues". I then assured her that there has never been a problems along those lines.

She finally said that she was not a technician and she did not know why it was taking so long.

In closing, I said that I would just have to wait a little longer. She replied with "You should be getting it soon".

That had to be the most confusing phone call I have ever made. I think every single thing she told me was a stall tactic, nothing more. :banghead:

Re: December applications

Y'alls information is giving me hope. :cheers2:

I sent my renewal packet in on the 21st of December. They received it on the 24th.

Processing started on the 24th of January, PIN issued at that time.

Looks like I might have another month to wait. My current CHL expires in mid April, so I ought to have the new one in hand by the end of March ?????

They received my renewal packet on December 23rd.

As of January 23, the online message now indicates they are processing the application.

30 days right on the money.

Re: December applications

I sent my renewal packet in on December 22nd by USPS registered mail, return receipt requested.

The USPS tracking number still shows 'no record of this number' to this day. :mad5 USPS efficiency at its finest.....

Being concerned that the package might have become lost in the mail, I called DPS on January 5th to inquire if it had arrived.

Lady on the phone said "it has arrived, but I am not allowed to talk to you about it until we have had it for at least 4 weeks."

At least I know it is there.

DPS website still shows 'packet mailed to applicant."

USPS still shows 'no record of this number.' :banghead:

Hopefully, I'll have the renewal issued by my CHL expiration date in mid-April....... :sleep
