Do to all of my health issues I am not able to "exercise." I am now finally at the point I can get out and do a little. I spent 8 years in a wheel chair.

I have a serious problem with my diabetes and was told to avoid fruit. I learned after a few years (first of all God's first food group was fruit in the Garden of Eden :thumbs2: ) that we need fruit.

I do not know the calories because I do not worry about calories. I eat everything berries in moderation. A lot of blueberries because they are one of the super foods. Strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries. I do eat oranges and apples although not many because they do effect my glucose readings.

I sure hope that this thread goes right on through 2013. I have so far to go and this actually encourages me.

TAM (The Annoyed Man) has invited me to go with him to his church they have a little get together that is a big encouragement, but it seems every time I decide I can go something happens. I am going to make that happen soon. I would enjoy setting and listening to other to learn new and improve ways of doing eating healthy.

I have lost over 80lbs since March. That seems like a lot, but not really considering I started at 503 :oops: . I have a long way to go. This is what I have been doing since March with very little movement. . .
Eat Every Day:
Fruits
Whole Grains
Leafy Greens
Nuts
Vegetables
Green Tea

Three Times A Week:
Oily Fish
Yogurt (REAL yogurt not Activia style)
Broccoli
Sweet Potato
Avocado

One Time Weekly:

Red Meat
Pasta
Dessert

Never:
Fast Foods
Soft Drinks
Alcohol
Processed Meals
Canned Soups

I am disabled and I did not start my change of life until March. From March until yesterday I have lost 81lbs. I am not weighing very often because I am not on a diet.

I have a completely different lifestyle. I changed the foods I eat as well as I started getting up and moving no matter how much pain I am in. I have found the way to minimize my pain and still move was a swimming pool.

So far it has worked. I have not fell off the wagon, I have not missed any of the older foods, and it has has given me more of a determination than I have ever had in my life.

I do not weigh less than I did three years ago when I had heart by-pass surgery, but I am in better health than I have been in in years.

Not worried about the scales worried about eating right and having a healthy life style.

As a side note my "blood work up" came in about a month ago with a hand written note that the doctor could not believe the difference in all of the results. I have cut my insulin intake back 60%.

I spent 8 years in a wheel chair or electric scooter. I am not walking again and some days I need a cane, but not as often as I did 6 months ago.
