Re: .308 Semi-Auto Rifles
Is it the brass Monarch soft points or the steel cased Monarch for $15?

Re: .308 Semi-Auto Rifles
Monarch .308 should be selling n the $8-9 range not $15 or so. The wolf is usually a little more, but still not $15. I used to find Federal soft points at Wally World for $14 and that was brass.

Re: .308 Semi-Auto Rifles
Are you shooting brass or steel cased? Or whatever you can afford, LOL. I shoot steel cause I like to shoot A LOT. Its the only way I can afford to shoot as often as I do. I have brass ammo as well, but usually save it for some unknown reason.ml1209 wrote:I have a FAL. I'm hoping someday the .308 ammo will go down in price.

Re: .308 Semi-Auto Rifles
I own a CAI CETME and have not had any issues other than ME not having good trigger control and doing a few double taps off of the recoil alone. My rifle shoots nicely and fit and finish seem to be fair enough. I traded a Beretta CX4 carbine for it and some extras. The steel cased ammo is all I shoot through it with out any issues. The CETME does beat up the shell casing quite a bit, so even with brass cased ammo there will be no chance of reloading them. I understand the fear of the lacquer coated ammo. I have shot lots and lots through my CETME and AK with any problems. I have shot very little through my AR. I have shot lots of polymer coated wolf ammo through my AR and AK without any issues. I prefer the polymer coated ammo of the lacquer for sure. Than monarch blue box is very cheap for target rounds when you can find it though.

Re: .308 Semi-Auto Rifles
Is it a NO NO to shoot steel cased ammo from an expensive rifle like a SASS type rifle? I have quite a bit of Silver Bear .308 ammo and was wondering how it would do in a super accurate rifle. I am also interested in getting a M14 or SOCOM in the future and was wondering if I would need to buy the high dollar ammo to feed it.

Re: .308 Semi-Auto Rifles
Thats a bummer about the wait for your rifle. Have any of you shot any steel cased ammo through any of your .308 rifles? If so did you notice anything good or bad after the fact. I ask because I acquired a CETME and ran some steel cased ammo through it this weekend with no issues what so ever. It really didn't crud my rifle up at all. I had heard it left residue or gunk in most guns but I didn't experience that problem at all. Just looking for opinions and hear say. Good luck to you and your arrival of the mighty .308.
