I am curious about several things. The Principle Investigator is in Speech Communication (not Criminology or Law or any policy or social science discipline). That leaves me wondering what her research objective is. Perhaps it is aimed at the issue of how campus carry might influence free speech in the classroom????

I am also surprised at the minimal IRB-imposed assurances, disclaimers, and other mandated language. I can't ask a farmer what kind of tractor he drives without giving pages of assurances that this purely voluntary, there is no risk, there are no recriminations for not answering, etc. etc. etc. This kind of government mandated language is the legacy of the Nazi's and the Tuskegee experiments. I guess the IRB at Tyler JC is more laid back.
