IIRC, Marlin has used three types of front sight mountings: dovetail in the barrel, ramp mounted without side notches for hood, and ramp mounted with convex side notches for hood.
There isn't much you can do if your front sight is mounted in a dovetail in the barrel itself.
If your sight is mounted in the un-notched ramp, you could inquire about replacing it with one that does have the notches. That, of course, requires removing and resetting the sight. The right diameter Dremel cutting wheel might successfully cut the grooves and elmininate drifting the sight in and out.
