I quickly ran some numbers on the cost of reloading 9mm, 115gr Ranier plated bullets.

It came out to just over $0.15 per round or about $7.50 per box. This is based on regular prices for the components. Smart buying can lower it some more. If you can use lead bullets instead of jacketed or plated, that will lower it significantly.

Primers are about $26/1000 or $0.026
Ranier plated bullets $44/500 or $0.088
Powder was based on $26/lb using a 5 grain load $0.019
Brass runs about $0.20 each and I assumed being able to use it 10 times $0.02

You can pick up range brass for free if you inspect it carefully before using. You can buy once fired brass for half the cost or less of new brass.

I pay considerably less for all of the components listed above. I figure my cost is about $0.04-$0.05 per round for the specified load.

What you hear people say is that you won't save any money, you'll just shoot more. Whether this is true is up to you, but you will be paying a fraction of the cost of factory ammo.
