Nah! I'm through.
I'll be carrying.
And I'm glad you won't be.
Your statements show an irrationality that I'm not comfortable with.
Take care.

A few shows back, as I was approaching George R. Brown, I met a gentleman in handcuffs escorted by two HPD officers. I had passed the other venues, so it was obvious that he was from the gun show.
When I got inside, I asked the officer what had happened and from the sketchy reply it appears he was just a regular attendee who decided to argue with the officer. I'll never know about what.
But I've seen enough not to start a discussion that you can't possibly win.

I'm not in the habit of announcing anywhere that I'm carrying.frankie_the_yankee wrote:Why not simply announce that you are carrying into the venue because the 30.06 signs are not valid?
Are you?
This isn't bravado. I'll continue to do it because I believe I'm right. I don't think I'd be arrested, but I would be barred from entering the show, at the promoter's discretion.
Why would I drive a distance to attend a gun show and then not be able to attend?
I promise two things. 1.) You'll never hear of a ND because my gun left its concealed location. 2.) If I'm ever arrested for this, I will post it here immediately.
But I won't foolishly create a scene which would only reflect badly on the CHL population as a whole and give the anti's ammunition against us.
Hey, I'm glad you're not carrying at gun shows. Truth is, I don't trust anyone else to be as responsible.

Quite simply, 30.06 postings in government owned buildings are invalid, making it quite legal for a licensee to ignore.Nazrat wrote:Bravado does not equal legal. Please cite any case law that shows that carry at gun shows is legal.
Inevitably, someone will be arrested for this, but I do not accept that I am breaking any law when I carry concealed past a 30.06 at a gun show being held in a government owned building, as almost all are.

I usually make eye contact with the officers, then go about my business of buying the ticket or talking to my friends.
I am almost never asked if I have a firearm.
I have stated my opinion on this subject before but will repeat that if something arises regarding a purchase that requires my handgun to be displayed, I will return to my vehicle, unload it, and return to have it tied at the door before re-entering.
The shows I attend are at government owned facilities and I do not recognize the validity of 30.06 postings in these situations. The promoters do it simply because their insurance requires it.
