I'm no lawyer, but I'd think it would be up to the Univ to decide how to do it. The law doesn't seem to indicate either way. The way I read it anyway

I work on a small private university campus and I'm VERY tempted to request written permission to carry on campus.

Anybody have any suggestions as to how to word a request?
